What's in it? A bestselling fiction novel and other goodies curated to match the theme of the book

Sweet Reads Box is a Canadian book subscription founded by a book-loving couple in Ontario. Sweet Reads Box is your chance to sit down, relax and enjoy a great read. It's me time, delivered. Each monthly box includes a bestselling fiction novel, an item connected to the novel's story-line or theme, a delicious drink to set the mood, a sweet treat to enjoy while reading, and a card explaining the novel choice and how all the items connect. Kerrie and Mark read and carefully select paperback novels from the Globe and Mail Best Seller list and the New York Times Bestseller List. Boxes ship on the 15th of each month via Canada Post.

Sweet Reads Box recently started a Facebook Group for subscribers to connect, share, and discuss the monthly picks. They plan to start hosting monthly book chats as well!
The card has a picture of Seattle! I recognize that skyline very well. It's only 3 hours from Vancouver so I've visited many times. I also have a cousin who lives there!

This book was chosen because Kerrie and Mark felt connected to the characters and how their lives became intertwined.

First look!

From the publisher:
Life is meant to be savored, but that’s not easy with no family, limited prospects and a past you’d rather not talk about.

Callie Smith doesn’t know how to feel when she discovers she has a brother and a sister—Malcolm, who grew up with affection, wealth and privilege, and Keira, a streetwise twelve-year-old. Despite her trepidation, she moves into the grand family home with her siblings and grandfather on the shores of Lake Washington, hoping just maybe this will be the start of a whole new life.

But starting over can be messy. Callie and Keira fit in with each other, but not with their posh new lifestyle, leaving Malcolm feeling like the odd man out in his own home. Becoming a family will take patience, humor, a little bit of wine and a whole lot of love. But love isn’t Malcolm’s strong suit…until he learns that an open heart, like the family table, can always make room for more.

Lakefield Bakery on Queen Chocolate Biscotti (~$2)
This bakery is local to Kerrie and Mark in Ontario. This chocolate biscotti fits with the products that the family from the book sells.

Starbucks Via Instant Pike Place Roast (3 packs, $3)
The first ever Starbucks is at Pike Place Market in Seattle. It's a trip to visit. It looks nothing like the chain stores we are used to seeing. This is a great item for fall, pairs well with the biscotti, and represents the novel's setting.

Blue Q Ankle Socks ($10.99 retail)
Blue Q socks are my absolute favourite. In fact, I was wearing a pair during this unboxing and while writing this post! These socks were included to represent Malcolm, Kiera, and Callie's struggle with a variety of emotions about each other. I think I will gift these to someone special. They're perfect!

Wearing Blue Q socks while unboxing Blue Q socks! What are the odds? You can find the pair I'm wearing here.

Imperfectly Worthy Wish Bracelet ($4)
This bracelet was handmade by a gal named Christy in London, Ontario. This wish bracelet fits with Kiera's birthday party in the novel.

P. Graham Dunn Hanging Sign ($8 Canadian)
Home is central to the novel and home is wherever your loved ones are. This small farmhouse inspired sign is very cute.

Ooly Note Pals Sticky Tabs ($2.60 Canadian)
A cat plays a central part of the novel. These fun sticky tabs are great for marking pages while reading.

The September collection from Sweet Reads Box included a paperback novel plus six extras curated around the them of the book. This box is valued around $54 Canadian! I love how Kerrie and Mark tied together family, fun, and Seattle with this collection. It's a great box to kick off fall.
