I have subscribed to Lip Monthly for almost three years, with some breaks. I go through phases where I’m excited to see it arrive, and others where I am just blasé. Lately, they’ve stepped up their game a bit… or so social media told me this so I decided to subscribe again. Their old plastic bags used to smell awful, like chemicals, and now they’re made of material and don’t have that stench.

They’ve relaunched their website and subscribers now have the opportunity to customize some of their products and access to subscriber exclusives, contests and giveaways! Subscribers can also earn shop points for referring friends and reviewing their bags - then they can redeem their points for free beauty products.

I actually received this bag before, over a year ago. I do love the cute design and the canvas material.

The August 2018 Theme is Under the Sea.

Product Card - There's a surprise bonus item in this bag!

First look!

Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm in Honey Nectar - Full Size ($8 US)
I don’t usually love tinted lip balms, but I was wrong about this one. It provides a natural looking, beautiful colour, it keeps my lips soft, it smells nice, and the colour looks nice with my skin.

Jelly Pong Pong Cosmetics Play Stain ($13 US)
This Play Stain was unexpectedly quite sheer, so no worries about over applying! It’s also very easy to blend, and has a very moisturizing feel to it. The product states is can be used on your cheeks as well, so even better that it’s a multi-purpose item!

City Color Creamy Lips Lip Paint in Flirtini - Full Size ($3.99 US)
With true opaque color, City Color Creamy Lips is a lip paint that just won't quit! It sets to a lightweight, semi matte finish that doesn't dry out and keeps your lips natural moisture preserved. This colour is a little bright but I will use it on nights out.

Be a Bombshell The One Stick in Sweetness - Full Size ($9, Sale $2 US)
This was the “bonus” item this month. Meh. The colour is okay, but as a lipstick it's a bit too dry. It tends to create chunks on the lips. Too sparkly for the cheeks.

Manna Kadar Liplocked Priming Gloss Stain in Sienna - Full Size ($24 US)
I love this stain! It is perfectly pigmented and so easy to wear. It doesn’t dry out like a lot of stains but you will need to reapply after a meal if you’re hungry and not careful. They stay really well through drinks, though!

The August 2018 Lip Monthly bag included four full-sized lip products and another bonus items, with a retail value of $50.99 US. I like that they included a variety of brands and various lip products. I am happy with the variety of shades I received this month, and the Pixi by Petra Shea Butter Lip Balm is my favourite. This is another step up for Lip Monthly this month. What did you get in your bag?

  1. One of the nicer bags I've seen from them. Almost enough to make me re-subscribe.
