Cairn is a subscription box for outdoor enthusiasts. Each month, Cairn carefully curates a collection of amazing outdoor products to help inspire your adventures. Fill out a questionnaire on sign up and Cairn sends a box of items that represents your preferences and outdoor interests. Occasionally everyone will receive the same box, but most months there will be multiple variations. Items are selected to cater to your outdoor lifestyle and chosen from 5 categories: Gear, Apparel, Food/Energy, Skincare, and Emergency/Medical. Subscribers will receive 3-6 full size items, with a value up to $50 US. Boxes ship mid-month. Your subscription will start the month you subscribe.

For those really passionate about the outdoors and adventure, Cairn has a higher end box called Cairn Obsidian. Cairn Obsidian ships quarterly in March, June, September, and December. Each box is priced at $249.95 and will include $300 worth of products. It's similar to the monthly box but will include bigger and higher priced items. Cairn guarantees that there will be no product overlap between the two boxes.

The box is long and narrow this month.

First look!

The theme this month is "Choose Your Adventure". The gear in this box was curated for versatility so you can use it no matter what outdoor activities you choose.

The Cairn Scout also includes outdoor tips and discount codes for the featured brands.

We also get a peek at the seasonal Cairn Obsidian Collection.

Tyny Key Clips in Blue (Small, $8)
Lightweight versatility and organization is the name of the game! These super strong clips, made of industrial silicone and swivel carabiners, are perfect for strapping gear to your pack, bundling loose items, and managing ropes or cords.
These are genius, and not because they secure your keys. I will probably use them to strap and secure more onto my backpack.

Here is a picture from the Cairn Scout showing how the clips can be used to secure extra gear to your pack.

Viter Energy Mints ($5)
These little mints are sneaky versatile — minty fresh breath and an energy boost. The mints contain 40mg of caffeine (half a cup of coffee’s worth of caffeine) and B-vitamins for fast-acting on-demand energy and fresh breath, all packed in a pocket-sized tin.
Half a cup of coffee's worth of caffeine in one little mint! These will come in handy for an upcoming red eye flight.

PackTowl Luxe Beach Towel in Deep Sea ($44.95)
Make room (you only need a little bit) for this go-anywhere, do-anything towel. The Luxe towel is PackTowl's most luxurious quick-drying towel available. Not only is it super soft, it dries 30% faster than your typical cotton towel and takes up much less space. Toss this little bit of luxury in your pack for any summer adventure, and you'll be amazed at how often it comes in handy. Whether traveling, working out, camping, boating or spending time in the water, the Luxe towel offers cozy, cotton-like comfort with fast-drying and odor-controlled performance.
I have a few PackTowls for travel purposes but I don't have a Luxe or a Beach size. It's huge at 36 inches by 59 inches and will be perfect on a few upcoming adventures.

The August Cairn included three items valued at $58 US. This box costs $34.95 US, including shipping. That works out to $46.70 Canadian this month! For reference, the PackTowl alone costs over $53 Canadian at MEC, so there's a bit of value here. I have a PackTowl Original  and PackTowl Nano and now I have a PackTowl Luxe! This one is huge and thick, compared to the Original and Nano. It will be great as a beach towel and as a bath towel. I always take a towel travelling because you just never know when you might need one! I'm happy with these items and I will find a way to put all three items to use this month.
