Oatbox is a Canadian subscription services based in Montreal, Quebec. Each month, Oatbox creates two different oat-based cereal mixes, inspired by the season. The cereals are made from natural, healthy ingredients. Oatbox is completely customizable. You can choose to receive the monthly Chef's Selections, or opt to switch it up for the classic recurring mixes. Oatbox will e-mail you 3-days before your billing date so you can login to your account and make your selections (Select "Modify Shipment" from your account page). You can also add extra bags to your order, for an added cost. Products include oatmeal mixes, granola mixes, and breakfast granola bars. Some mixes are gluten-free, nut-free, or vegan.

From whole grain cereals like rolled oats and puffed quinoa to nuts and fruits as fresh as they get, our ingredients are really what makes our breakfast cereals truly unique.

Each bag is about 380g and offers approximately 8 portions each. The granola blends are made fresh and shipped the same month so your oats are guaranteed to be fresh. The packages are re-sealable and will last for 3-months on the shelf, at room temperature (as long as the seal is properly closed).

First look!

The Chef's Selections for April were "Maple flakes & Pineapple Granola" and "Cinnamon, Apple & Millet Granola".  Those mixes didn't scream spring to me, so I swapped them out for some old favourites. I love the customization that's possible with Oatbox! Unfortunately, the recipe inserts are for the Chef's Selections, so they aren't very useful this month.

Along with the 2 included granola mixes, I added on a 6-pack of Chocolate & Banana Cereal Bars. I've tried all three of Oatbox's Cereal Bars and Chocolate & Banana is my favourite. They are good to have on hand for on-the-go, especially those mornings where I don't have time to have a good meal. I can grab a bar while I'm flying out the door. A 6-pack is $15 extra.

Raspberry & White Chocolate Granola ($10)
Ingredients: Organic rolled oats, organic rye flakes, white chocolate (sugar, cocoa butter, whole milk powder, skim milk powder, soy lecithin, vanilla extract), raspberry puree (raspberry, sugar), organic unsweetened apple sauce, organic honey, brown sugar, organic sunflower oil, freeze-dried raspberries, organic spelt bran.

This mix has rolled oats with freeze-dried raspberry pieces and white chocolate discs. It had a nice amount of sweetness, but still tasted wholesome.

Coconut & Wild Blueberry Granola ($10)
Ingredients: Organic rolled oats, organic rye flakes, organic wild blueberries (blueberries, apple juice, sunflower oil), organic coconut, organic toasted coconut chips, organic honey, brown sugar, organic unsweetened apple sauce, organic sunflower oil, organic spelt bran.

This rolled oat mix dried blueberries and toasted coconut chips. The blueberry coconut combo was pretty good.

The April Oatbox included two bags of granola mix, plus I added on 6 breakfast cereal bars. The granola mixes are 380 grams each and offers 8 servings per bag. One shipment is enough to feed my boyfriend every weekday morning for the entire month. He's a big fan of Oatbox granola mixed with vanilla yogourt. He enjoyed both mixes this month and commented on how fresh they tasted.
