Luxe Box Review - Winter 2017 - Canadian Beauty Subscription Box

Canadian Box Addict subscribes to this box. This review was written by Hayley.

What is it? Luxe Box
How Much? $26 per quarter, $50 semi-annually, $96 yearly. Shipping included. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What’s in it? 7-8 Trial-size products every season (4x per year)

Luxe Box is a Canadian subscription service that sends beauty and lifestyle products every season. Subscribers will receive 7-8 full size and trial size products. Boxes ship four times per year, and include complimentary shipping.

We received an email that Luxe Box will no longer provide a tracking number, but that the boxes will still arrive on time, or earlier than normal. My Winter Luxe Box arrived on December 12th. My digital Product Card arrived to my inbox on December 15th.

When I mentioned I have noticed a lot of duplicate products between Topbox and Luxe Box some people were surprised. Unfortunately, this is still a theme with both Topbox and Luxe Box.

First look - we aren’t given the opportunity to opt for the “eco friendly” drawstring bag anymore. Check out the damage to my box. Luckily, all products arrived in one piece and unharmed.

Barefoot Venus Intensive Hand Repair - Shea & Mango - Full Size ($10)
This multipurpose silky smooth treatment nurtures and repairs with mango, shea & olive fruit butters leaving a silky feel and protective barrier on skin.
We haven’t received a Barefoot Venus product in quite some time and the last time I received one it was in a Topbox before I started writing reviews. This hand repair smells delicious and it’s very moisturizing. I can’t find this product online so it is my assumption that it’s from another season.

Cougar Cosmetics 6 Shades of Nude - Full Size ($22.31)
This eyeshadow palette contains 6 beautiful shimmer eye shadows to create a combination of glamorous and dazzling eye shadow looks.
I haven’t received a Cougar Cosmetics product in ages! I first thought this was a bronzer/highlighter, but it's actually an eye shadow palette. The colours are quite gorgeous, I was just thrown off that the colours are alongside one another.

Medusa's Makeup LIPSTICK in Sugar Daddy - Full Size ($15)
This bright and beautiful lipstick is a Luxurious Blend of Natural Waxes Color Rich Pigment, Creamy, Soft and Nourishing. The ingredients do not include any animal by-products.
I just received this exact product (including the shade) in my December Topbox. Good thing I really love this lipstick.

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD® TINGLEXFOLIATE TREATMENT (15g, $20.70)
YOUTHMUD® provides gentle resurfacing exfoliation and helps to leave skin smoother, brighter, and softer resulting in immediate camera-ready glowing skin.
Originally designed as a 10-minute professional 'facial in a jar' for behind-the-scenes use in Hollywood's Entertainment, Music, Fashion & Award industries. This is another brand-repeat from the July Topbox and Fall & Summer Luxe Boxes. This is a product repeat from the September Topbox. This product has a strange tingly sensation and looks like chunks of seaweed or something is stuck to your face. It leaves the skin soft and glowing though.

Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer in Snow Place Like Home ($4.50)

It's what's inside that counts. Inspired by luminous pearls, raw gems, semi-precious stones, glimmering silvers and radiant gold all drawn from the earth. All pigments are saturated, pure and finely milled for luminous metallics, never before seen shimmers, decadent crèmes, stunning sheers and more glistening glitters.
I dislike nail polish and this is a brand repeat times a million. This is from their 2014 Winter line. Ugh.

Blend like a pro with this easy-to-clean gel sponge. Dispense makeup or skincare onto the sponge then dab onto the face. Blend outward in circular motions. This is a product repeat from my November 2017 Topbox. This silicone makeup blender does a nice job and the product does not absorb into it like other beauty blenders. I will be gifting this to a close friend.

Sweetie Products Peppermint Bliss Bath Bomb ($5)
Packed with nourishing avocado oil and coconut oil, these bath bombs help your skin lock in moisture and will make your skin soft and supple.
This is neat. I appreciate that Luxe Box included a small, Canadian company's product. I will use this in a relaxing bath when I have two weeks off from teaching.

The Winter 2017 Luxe Box included seven products, valued at $91.50 CDN. This box costs $26 per season, so the value is great. Again, the only issue I have with Luxe Box is the product and brand repetition from Topbox. The nail polish is horrible, but I am excited and satisfied with everything else. I wonder what 2018 will bring for Luxe Box.

  2. I agree with the product repeats!

  3. Do they repeat the products once sent in a box or they send variety of products? Some subscription boxes are so repetitive, I once subscribed a skin care subscription box and got 4 face washed in 3 months, can you believe that?

    1. Luxe Box repeats a lot with Topbox, but I'm not sure that they've sent an exact duplicate item. You likely will get repeats of a similar product though.
