How Much? $44.99/month, plus tax and $9.61 shipping. Save on 3 month terms. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What’s in it? A recently released novel as well as three related items and a note from the curator.

Novel Editions is a Canadian subscription box for book lovers. Each month, Novel Editions sends a carefully curated box of bookish items. Expect to receive a fiction novel released in the last 6 months, 3-4 items that are relevant to the book or theme, plus a note from the curator explaining why she chose the book. The founder, Alex, spends a great deal of time each month curating the perfect box to bring joy to subscribers.

As a bonus, Alex produces a Book Club Guide for each novel. The guides have everything you need to plan the perfect Book Club party, including food and decor suggestions and book discussion questions. She also organizes a Book Club chat on the Novel Editions Facebook page for subscribers to meet and discuss the novel. I love these features! This is what makes Novel Editions a complete "book club in a box".

The theme for November is Celebrate! Novel Editions is celebrating their first anniversary. You can see all my reviews of Novel Editions from the past year here.

Alex's note this month shares her highs and lows from the past year. I was one of those first 20 boxes that went out in November 2016 (see my review here) and I have passionately supported Novel Editions ever since. It remains one of my most favourite subscriptions.

Regarding this box, all the extras this month are exclusive items, made for Novel Editions by Canadian makers!

First look!

Product List

Sacha & Co. Plot Twist Wine Glass ($15)
This is a 15oz stemless wine glass with an etched script design. It was made custom for Novel Editions by Sacha & Co, "a stylish goods collective" based in Kelowna, BC. The glass is amazing! When I first saw the bubble wrap and glass item, I was thinking  tea cup or mug. Alex really knocked it out of the park with this one. I sipped some pinot while taking part in the October book club FB chat last week!

Wanderlights Candle Co. Novel Editions Candle (2oz, $4 value*)
This candle smells wonderful. It's White Pumpkin & French Vanilla. Wanderlights is based in Winnipeg. Their candles are inspired by destinations across the globe and locations found in books. Their scents tell a story and are meant to bring out the wanderlust within.
*Retail value may be higher. Priced based on a 6oz version for $12.

The Paper Shoppe "To Be Read List" Mini Notebook ($11.79)
This mini notebook has 30 lined pages so you can keep track of your reading list. The Paper Shoppe is a custom design shop in Cambridge, Ontario. They specialize in wedding favour packaging. Each book is hand stamped.

Spoonbenders by Daryl Gregory (Hardcover, $34.95 retail)
Alex says the book this month features a unique family and a lovable cast of characters. She says it's told with humour, but still meaningful, and "showcases the importance of relationships and the connections we make with one another".

This book was released in late June, 2017.

From the publisher:

A generations-spanning family of psychics--both blessed and burdened by their abilities--must use their powers to save themselves from the CIA, the local mafia and a skeptic hell-bent on discrediting them in this hilarious, tender, magical novel about the invisible forces that bind us.

The Telemachus family is known for performing inexplicable feats on talk shows and late-night television. Teddy, a master con-man, heads up a clan who possess gifts he only fakes: there's Maureen, who can astral-project; Irene, the Human Lie Detector; Frankie, gifted with telekinesis; and Buddy, the clairvoyant. But when, one night, the magic fails to materialize, the family withdraws to Chicago where they live in shame for years. Until: as they find themselves facing a troika of threats (CIA, Mafia, an unrelenting skeptic), Matty, grandson of the family patriarch, discovers a bit of the old Telemachus magic in himself. Now, they must put past obstacles behind them and unite like never before. But will it be enough to bring The Amazing Telemachus Family back to its amazing life?

The November 2017 Novel Editions book, themed Celebrate, included four items valued over $65 Canadian. Alex put together another great box. I love the wine glass as it gives subscribers an opportunity to raise a glass and cheers to 1 year of Novel Editions!

This November box may still available to purchase. Check here if you are interested. The December box is available now as well and quantities are limited. The first round of boxes ship December 5th so sign up early to ensure delivery for Christmas!

December's theme is Magic. The box features an historic fiction novel and four related items.

The story begins in 1917, and then jumps ahead to the present day. It connects two young girls who convinced the world that magic was real, and a present-day woman who stumbles across some old photographs while wandering a bookstore. This magical story blends fantasy with reality, and will leave your imagination running! It's the perfect kind of book to snuggle up with on a cozy winter night, and we know you're going to love it.
