What is it? Topbox
How Much? $12 per month, plus tax. Shipping included. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What’s in it?  4 deluxe beauty samples

Topbox is a Canadian subscription service that sends four deluxe samples from top beauty brands each month. Topbox is the premiere monthly beauty subscription box in Canada and at only $12 per month, plus tax, it's an affordable option for those just getting into the world of beauty boxes. Topbox tends to include a lot of skincare products with some cosmetics. They tend to feature higher end drugstore and department store brands. You can expect to see Lise Watier, Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden, and Benefit, along with some new and niche brands.

You can see all our previous Topbox reviews here.

I received the regular Topbox again this month. Each month you are asked to fill out a survey and you can bid to receive a Prive Topbox, or you can opt to get a regular one. I opted for a regular Topbox this month. I received the shipping information for my August Topbox the day it was delivered, August 15th, and I received my digital product card the next day.

First look!

Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional: Pore Minimizing Makeup (5ml, $13.33)
Target pore problem areas with the POREfessional: pore minimizing makeup. This longwear, matte makeup covers imperfections without clogging pores! Before opening, shake bottle well. Pat & blend on pore-problem areas or all over face to instantly minimize the look of pores. Repeat to build coverage.
Benefit Cosmetics seem to be a staple brand for Topbox lately. However, they’re usually great products and I am happy to receive them. This one included.

Barefoot Venus Green Tea Body Wash (50ml, $5.50)
This mild plant-derived wash creates a rich, luxurious lather that cleans without stripping or drying. Packed with skin loving extracts of; White Pine Bark, Green Tea, Ginseng, Bearberry and Licorice, skin is left silky soft.
I’ve received Barefoot Venus products in the past and they were great. This smells wonderful and is free of parabens, propylene glycol, mineral oil and synthetic colour.

Danny Co. Satin Smooth Skincare Renewal Facial Cream Cleanser (30ml, $7.39)
This gentle facial cream cleanser refreshes skin with AHA, hydrates with aloe vera and jojoba, and brightens with vitamin C. Formulated to remove residual makeup, daily impurities and dead skin cells for more radiant, younger looking skin.
This cleanser seems fancy as you can only purchase it from a distributor or salon.

Be a Bombshell Lip Crayon in Some Beach - Full Size ($7)
A GLOSSY LIP CRAYON WITH A SMOOTH TEXTURE.
I was hesitant about this colour at first but it actually looks good with my fair complexion. It had long-lasting power which was impressive and was a fun colour to wear out to a local music festival.

My August Topbox included four products. The retail value of the products is $33.22, which is a decent value for Topbox. We have one full size product and three deluxe samples. It's a nice mix of products this month with bath products, skincare and cosmetics. I will use each item so I consider it a win. What did you receive?

  2. If you had to choose between this and ipsy which would you choose?

    1. They are both so different, it's hard to say. I used to be subscribed to both but now I don't get either. Topbox is about $13 Canadian, while Ipsy is about $20 Canadian (give or take with US exchange). Topbox gets you 4 items. Ipsy gets you 5 items. Ipsy typically has a higher value, but Topbox typically has higher end products. I will ask Hayley to answer this as well so you get her view as she still subscribes to both.
