How Much? $26/quarter (1 shipment) or $88/year (4 shipments). Shipping is an additional $20/quarter or $40/year. Prices in US dollars.

RawSpiceBar is a subscription service offering freshly ground spice blends and recipes. RawSpiceBar used to be a monthly kit, but they very recently switched to quarterly. Every 3 months, RawSpiceBar will refresh your spice cabinet with 6 small batch spices, plus tips & seasonal recipes based on your preferences. At any time you can change to a different kit, pause your shipments, or cancel your account. Spices are ground in-house, right before shipping.

The quarterly kit features "Global Blends".
A roundup of the most loved spice blends from around the world, freshly ground, toasted & blended just before shipping to your door. Take a culinary trip to Morocco, Japan, Ethiopia, China, Mexico & India with plenty of recipe ideas in your inbox- no plane ticket required!

For an additional cost, you can add extra kits to your shipment.

This review is for the old monthly format. This format is no longer available, but I am doing the review anyway to give you an idea of what RawSpiceBar has to offer.

First look!

There are several recipes available this month, online and on the printed cards.
For dessert, or maybe breakfast, there is:
(Although a few of these recipes are not really Haitian or Caribbean!)

Cardamom Summer
A blend of cardamom, star anise, and cinnamon. Use in curries, baking, tea, or coffee.

Allspice Jamaican Jerk Seasoning
This ingredients on this packet only list "hickory smoked sea salt", which I'm sure is an error. Jerk spice typically has allspice, scotch bonnet peppers, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, thyme, garlic, sugar, ginger, and salt.

Scotch Bonnet Salt
This packet contains a blend of kosher sea salt and scotch bonnet chilies.
None of the included recipes use this spice and there is nothing listed on the RawSpiceBar website, so I'm not sure what to do with this one. I guess it's just a finishing salt.

The July RawSpiceBar included three packets of fresh ground spice blends totalling just about 1oz of spices. There's also 11 different recipes that we can use with these spices, including several vegetarian options.

Unfortunately this single-theme spice kit is no longer available from RawSpiceBar. Going forward they will be a quarterly subscription. If you are interested in trying the new RawSpiceBar quarterly subscription, you can save $5 off your first shipment using promo code CDNSPICEADDICT at checkout!
