For April/May, Food Trip To headed  to Argentina. This box is still available as a single purchase (not part of a subscription). Click here to check it out.

Imagine for a moment that you are being immersed in the life of a gaucho, your maté in hand, exploring the plains of the Rio de la Plata. Let your imagination be transported to the ends of the Earth in Ushuaia, savouring an asado at the San Telmo Market in the heart of Buenos Aires, sipping on a glass of Malbec in the Mendoza vineyards and gallivanting around to find criollos in La Pampa.
Hold on to your hats, we’re taking off for Argentina!

This journey includes a three course meal, plus a cocktail.

On the menu we have...

The Cocktail: !Maté Tonus!
This mate-infused creation is sure to spark an evening full of laughter, delight, and conviviality.

The Appetizer: Faina
To be enjoyed with the cocktail, this golden wafer made with chickpea flour will melt in your mouth!

The Main Course: Asado a la Parilla
Typical barbecue set-up with 7 types of meat covered in a delectable herb sauce, known as Chimichrri. A splendid collective experience!

The Dessert: Alfajores a Argentinos
Made with the staple ingredient in the most Argentine desserts, the classic dulce de leche. Sweet tooths be warned, just one bite is going to make you melt!

We also have some facts and info on Argentina, words and phrases in Spanish, some trivia to entertain your guests, and a selection of Argentinian movies.

As always, every box includes nutrition facts for the included products and a grocery list for the dinner.

There's a lot of tasty things in the box this month!

The souvenir from Argentina is a mate gourd and a "bombilla", or drinking straw. Mate, or Yerba Mate, is a traditional caffeine-rich hot drink made by infusing yerba mate leaves. The leaves are placed in the gourd and steeped with hot water, then the drink is served with the bombilla.

Yerba Mate
To go with the gourd and bombilla, we have a packet of yerba mate tea leaves. The mate is served with dessert.

Food Trip To... Aji Molido Spices
A crushed chili blend... to be used in moderation!

Viva Argentina Salsa Chimichurri
While we received a recipe for homemade Chimichurri, we also received a jarred version. Chimichurri is made with minced parsley, coriander, shallots, and garlic, plus a splash of olive oil, and lemon juice.

Chickpea Flour
This is an essential in all Argentinian kitchens, and used to make the Faina appetizer.

Dulce de Batata
This is a sweet dessert made from sweet potatoes. It's a jelly-like texture and commonly eaten with crackers or cheese. This product is ready to eat, straight from the package.

Dulce de Leche
Dulce de Leche is basically caramelized milk. This jar is used in the dessert recipe and is sandwiched between small flour & cornmeal cakes.

Don Satur Crackers
These are described as being salty and slightly crunchy. They are traditionally served with yerba mate.

The April/May shipment from Food Trip To... took us to Argentina! The box included some items to help make a three course meal, plus a cocktail and an after-dinner drink. I'm looking forward to trying the Dulce de Batata and making the Alfajores dessert. This box is still available as a single purchase (not subscription), so if you are interested, click here to purchase.
