What’s in it? A themed collection of artisan-made products from around the world

Each month, GlobeIn delivers “the globe in a box” - a collection of artisan-made products from around the world, curated around a central theme. GlobeIn introduces you to products that you can feel good about - they are often organic, fair-trade, and support artisans and farmers from around the world.

Last week I posted about GlobeIn's price increase. Click here to read if you missed it.

Each month, GlobeIn releases two new themed boxes. Current subscribers can select which box they would like to receive between the 1st and 5th of each month. The first theme for June was "Al Fresco" and you can check out my review here. The second theme, which I'm reviewing today, is "Refresh".

Hey Cool Cucumbers,

Picture yourself trudging across an endless desert plain. You’re exhausted. You’re parched. You’re unbelievably bored. But then, in the distance, could it be? A glimmering circle of crisp blue...

The items in this collection are things that makes you say ahhhh, that’s better. And they’re no mirage! They’re real and here to revive you. Your mint tea and glass, wide-brimmed hat, and poolside blanket come from Mexico, Kenya, and Morocco—places where people know how to thrive in the heat. Now they're sending their tricks your way. We invite you to turn the page, flip the pillow, and refresh!

Numi Organc Tea in Moroccan Mint ($10)
Our organic Moroccan Mint, known as "nana mint," flourishes in North Africa. With a flavor as light and lively as a newly picked leaf, it has a sweet spearmint flavor that is refreshing and soothing any time of day.
Mint tea is perfect as an after dinner drink and it's also quite nice iced.

Casablanca Market Hand Painted Tea Glass from Morocco ($15)
This tea glass is hand painted in Morocco. It can be used for hot or cold tea, wine, candles, or decoration. Subscribers will receive a variety of colours.

Wildlife Works Kikoi Blanket from Kenya ($25)
This blanket is a large rectangle, 60x39 inches. A Kikoi is a traditional woven rectangle cloth from Africa. The word means "wrap" in Swahili. Kikois can be used as sarongs, slings for baby wearing, head wraps, scarfs, shawls, towels, or blankets. It's a very versatile item! It's very light weight and quite similar to a Turkish towel.

Woven Sun Hat from Mexico ($25)
This hat was hand woven in Oaxaca, Mexico. Buyers in Mexico are accustomed to low prices so and weavers are timid to ask for more. To help, GlobeIn pays the weavers double their asking price to encourage them to own the value of their work and demand fair prices. It's a sturdy wide brimmed style with a built in neck string. It will come in handy this summer!

The May "Refresh" box from GlobeIn included four items, with a retail value around $75 US. This box costs Canadians $67 per month, including shipping, although you can save quite a bit by getting a pre-paid 3, 6, or 12 month subscription. I like the Refresh theme. The sun hat and blanket are good items for the warm weather and they will be very useful this summer! The Refresh box is still available for purchase. Check it out here.
