How much? $39/month, $45/every 3 months, or $49 for just this month’s box. Free shipping to the US, or $9.99 shipping per box to Canada. All prices in US dollars.
What's in it? 5-7 recipes and 4 essential oils + extras

Each month, Simply Earth delivers four simply pure essential oils, extras, and easy recipes, curated around a specific theme. Simply Earth helps you “create a healthy and chemical free home for your family”. Simply Earth has a Simply Pure Oil Promise: it all starts with the right plants at the right locations. Then these perfect plants are purely distilled, tested for purity, packaged to perfections, and enjoyed by you! You can feel good about this subscription as 13% of profits from your purchase goes to help end human trafficking. You can read more about that here.

I was thrilled to receive this Essential Oil Recipe Box as I have been using essential oils in my home for almost two years. I use essential oils in a diffuser when I sleep, in my cleaning products and lately have been using them to treat certain ailments. I love holistic health and essential oils are a big part of it.

The theme for May is Natural Beauty. This box is full of recipes and natural ingredients to add to your beauty routine. The box came packed with recipe cards, four essential oil blends, camellia seed oil, castile soap, two amber glass roll-on bottles and circle label stickers.

Let’s take a look inside:

I’d like to start by commenting on the packaging. The essential oils come packed in stable, cardboard boxes and the side of each box lists the aroma description, use ideas, therapeutic properties and a scan code to link you to recipes that use that specific essential oil. Each individual bottle lists what plant part was used to make the oil, where the plant originates, the ingredients and the aroma description. Simply Earth states that their oils are tested 100% pure therapeutic grade and the box also lists their cause: 13% of their profits go towards the fight to end human trafficking. #beaworldchanger

Cypress Essential Oil ($9.99 US)
Cypress Essential Oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaf of Cupressus sempervirens. This oil helps to ease tension, coughs, menstrual discomfort, is anti-inflammatory and also kills bacteria. “This oil is one of the most well-rounded, and hardly talked about, oils on the market. Cypress has therapeutic properties that can help ailments ranging from generalized anxiety to the flu.” I have been diffusing this in the evenings all week and I’ve felt very rested and relaxed. My stepson has a cold and it has also seemed to help ease that. Also, it’s the main ingredient in the Makeup Remover recipe I made below and it works awesome!

Lemongrass Essential Oil ($6.99 US)
Lemongrass Essential Oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves of Cymbopogon flexuosus. This oil uplifts and calms the mind, is anti-fungal, cools and anti-inflammatory. This oil smells amazing and it is new to my collection. I have heard it is really great to use in homemade natural cleaning products due to its anti-fungal properties. Fun fact: I just learned that you can diffuse lemongrass to keep the pesky mosquitoes away!

Geranium Essential Oil ($13.99 US)
Geranium Essential Oil is extracted by steam distillation of the leaves & flowers of Helichrysum splendidum. This oil uplifts mood, eases inflammation, promotes healthy hair and lessens stress.

Juniper Berry Essential Oil ($11.99 US)
Juniper Berry Essential Oil is extracted by steam distillation of the berries of Juniperus communis. This oil treats skin problems, relieves stress, prevents food cravings and is a detoxifying agent.

100% Pure Camellia Seed Oil ($9.99 US)
Camellia Seed Oil provides high-end skin treatment without extra additives. It is full of antioxidants that help to revitalize and rejuvenate the hair and skin. These help protect the skin from free radical damage, refine mature skin, and nourish the complexion.

Natural Castile Soap
Castile soap is made with pure, all-natural, chemical-free ingredients, and it's great for washing your body and hair as well as cleaning the house! I already use castile soap in my natural cleaning products and find it interesting that it is suggested for use in this month’s beauty recipes.

Amber Glass Roll On Bottles and Recipe Circle Labels

The Recipe Cards this month include recipes for: Makeup remover, body scrub, under eye serum, natural shampoo + body wash, natural conditioner and natural facial cleanser. You are given all the supplies you need for each recipe (so you don’t have to buy them), which is very convenient as I do not have a lot of time to shop on my schedule. Below I have prepared two of the recipes so I could tell you about my experience.

Makeup Remover
I found this makeup remover very easy to prepare. It has 10 drops of Cypress Essential Oil, Camellia seed oil, and natural castile soap. Cotton balls are suggested for use with this makeup remover. It took me one minute to whip up and it’s actually quite effective at removing makeup.

Under Eye Serum
This Under Eye Serum has Camellia Seed Oil, Cypress and Geranium Essential Oils. This took me 30 seconds to make and it feels nice, applied under my eyes at bedtime.

The May Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box included seven items, valued over $55 US. This could easily become my new favourite subscription. The products are made of quality, pure ingredients and I have paid far more for essential oils here in Canada. This box has fantastic value and use, and it will add to the healthy lifestyle of my household. I am impressed with the amount of use I’ll get out of each essential oil, and am thankful for the copious amounts of recipe ideas. I am seriously looking forward to next month’s box and what it might have in store.
