What is it? Frank And Oak Style Plan
How much? $89 per shipment. Tax and shipping included. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What's in it? Up to 4 premium quality staples from Frank And Oak's own label. Subscriptions for men and women.

Frank And Oak is a Canadian clothing brand that crafts premium, on-trend styles for men and women. Frank And Oak recently launched a subscription service called Style Plan. For $89 per shipment, you can get up to 4 premium quality staples at up to 25% off retail prices. You control what you get and when you get it.

Frank And Oak offers women's wear sizes XS to XL in tops and dresses and size 24 to 31, or 0-12 in bottoms. Menswear comes XS to XXL in tops and 28 to 38 in pants, with inseams 30 to 34 available. They also have tall sizes for some items. The pieces are minimalist, with neutral and muted colours and patterns. Fabrics include tencel, 100% cotton, modal, linen, and cotton blends. Packages ship monthly or bi-monthly. If you don't find anything you want, you can skip the shipment. Shipping is always free and you can return unwanted items for free by mail or in-store.

When you sign up for Frank And Oak, you complete a survey outlining what styles, patterns, and colours appeal to you. It's a simple survey, consisting of clicking happy, neutral, or sad faces. Once your survey is completed, Frank And Oak Style Plan gives recommendations from the latest collection. The more you take the quiz and open up your preferences, the more styles revealed to you.

Items in your personal showroom are priced by token and your $89 subscription price gives you 5 tokens. Most items range from 1-5 tokens to purchase. Occasionally items, like jackets, require additional tokens purchase. Tokens cost $17.80 each and can be purchased through your Style Plan account. Your tokens don't expire and you can save them and carry over into future months. When you're ready to build your Style Plan shipment, just spend your tokens on your selected items. No additional payment is needed. One thing I don't link is the the showroom items don't include a size chart. I had to keep going back to the Frank And Oak retail site to find the items I was interested in, and then check the size chart there. There should be a link or something on the showroom page.

Last month I reviewed the Style Plan for women (click here to see). This month I am reviewing the Style Plan for men.

This month the Style Plan shipment came in a nondescript mailing bag. Inside the clothing was carefully wrapped in tissue.

We signed my boyfriend up for his own account to try out the Style Plan for Men. Based on the size chart for tops (see an example here), G would need size XXL in Frank And Oak tops. That seemed odd to us since he's not a large guy, and most other places he takes size L or XL. Some of the clothing descriptions on the retail side of Frank And Oak include details about the model. Almost every model is described as being over 6' and wearing size M. While I found Frank And Oak fit true to size for women's wear*, the size chart and descriptions for menswear led me to believe that they fit larger for men, despite what the size chart listed. We took the risk and ordered G shirts in size XL.

*Side note on the women's wear - while the tops I picked fit well on me, the dress I ordered in addition to the Style Plan fit HUGE and had to be returned. I have a larger chest, so while I was pleased with the larger fit on the tops, average or smaller framed ladies may find Frank + Oak fits large. My original Style Plan for Women post has been updated.

The Odessa Chambray Shirt in Black ($49.50, 2 Tokens)
Soft chambray cotton in a versatile wear-anywear style, this cozy classic is bound for essential status.
This is a classic slim-fit button up with a chest pocket and rounded cuffs. It's a heavy knit 100% cotton. G was worried this one would be too tight, but it actually fit perfect. It's a little too heavy for spring and summer, but it will come in handy in fall.

Melange Loose Fit T-Shirt in Dark Jean ($39.50, 2 Tokens)
Loosen up with the essential wear-anywhere tee. Rich tonal blends of colour make for a staple that’s not afraid to stand on its own.
This 100% soft cotton tee has a looser fit and rounded shirttail back hem. This one fit G very well and it looked great on him.

Striped Knitted-Twill Cotton T-Shirt ($34.50, 1 Token)
Soft denim-like twill makes up this indigo striped tee, bringing seamless layering and a pop of colour to the Canadian tuxedo.
This slim fit 100% cotton tee was the only thing I didn't like. G thought it was okay and decided to keep it because he has nothing like it. The slim fit tee fits smaller, but sizing up would have made it way too big.

G's received three tops in his May Style Plan for Men shipment. The retail value of these items is $123.50 Canadian, and don't forget, tax would be extra. This shipment would have cost only $89, including tax and shipping, so it's great value. G was really impressed with the quality of the t-shirts. He's used to mass produced major retailer t-shirts, and he seemed pretty happy to have some new, well made shirts in his closet. I think some of the sizes are a little off. I'd be a little hesitant to order pants, but thankfully Frank + Oak has a no hassle return policy. Simply login to the order section on your account to process a return and get a free mailing label. Print the label, affix to a mailing bag with your item, and drop it off at a post office. Those near a Frank And Oak retail outlet can make returns in store. It's also easy to cancel your Style Plan account, if needed. I was able to cancel my second account in minutes, using the online chat feature and Frank And Oak's 24/7 customer service. I kept my Style Plan for Women account active, and plan to order again!
