I have subscribed to Lip Monthly for almost two years. I go through phases where I’m excited to see it arrive, and others where I am just blasé. Lately, they’ve stepped up their game a bit. Their old plastic bags used to smell awful, like chemicals, and now they’re made of material and don’t have that stench. I thought I’d write this review so you can see what Lip Monthly has been up to.

They’ve relaunched their website and subscribers now have the opportunity to customize some of their products and access to subscriber exclusives, contests and giveaways! Subscribers can also earn shop points for referring friends and reviewing their bags - then they can redeem their points for free beauty products.

First look!

The bag is a nice spring green with a pretty leaves design. Perfect for spring and it doesn’t smell!

Welcome to the March bag! Spring and warmer weather are upon us and with them flirty colours that will help you transition in style. We’re also sending some SOS for your skin. The cold to hot change takes a toll on moisture and this mask will help bring it back.

Leaders 7 Wonders Amazonian Acai Anti-Pollution Mask ($6)
This sheet mask is supposed to minimize the effects of pollution on your skin by purifying and neutralizing it. This is a neat idea I suppose, but I don’t really know how pollution has affected my skin? I will give it a shot and let you know how it turns out. The bio-cellulose ingredient sounds fancy.

Evelyn Iona Lipgloss in Brooke ($21)
I was not overly thrilled to see another dark shade in my bag, but once applied it is quite sheer and only adds a touch of colour to the lips. It’s made from Bark Extract (which tightens and plumps lips), Oregano (works as an antioxidant) Vitamin E (natural moisturizer), Coconut oil (helps fight signs of ageing) & Shea Butter (helps heal skin and improve its general appearance) and many other natural ingredients that are hydrating for your lips. This will be saved for the Fall.

Coastal Scents Lipstick 8 ($5.95 retail, Sale $3.95)
This colour is better suited for Fall/Winter and I will put it aside. I typically enjoy the coastal scents brand.

Laritzy Liquid Lipstick ($24)
They aren’t lying - this liquid lipstick, LASTS! I swatched the lip products from this bag below, three days ago, and the Laritzy Liquid Lipstick is STILL on my arm. I don’t love the colour I received, it’s too orange for me, but it would look fabulous on someone with an olive complexion or darker skin. I appreciate that it is a colour suited for Spring/Summer.

Here are the swatches in review order.

My March Lip Monthly bag included four full-size products with a retail value of $54.95 US. I like that they included a variety of brands and both lipstick and glosses. It is also neat to receive a non-lip related product. None of the lip products were shades I would use right now, so I ended up either putting them aside or giving them away. You would think the first bag of spring would include a bunch of bright, sunny colours… and that wasn’t really the case.
