This Italy themed box was a special holiday offering for December/January.

Star chef Stefano Faita joined the Food Trip To... team on this month’s destination to share cherished recipes and favourites as well as his own memories of the homeland. Discover a family story that stretches from the beautiful lakes of Lombardy set in The Alpine foothills and endless olive orchards to the Lazio region and Rome’s celebrated monuments that date back to antiquity.
Jump across the ocean to the streets of Montreal’s vibrant Little Italy, the home base of the Faita family. Here are Holiday dishes seasoned with the love of Mamma and nonnas.

There's actually four recipes for this box, but I missed one (it's there, was just camera shy). We have a cocktail, first course, second course, and dessert!

Cocktail - Bicicletta
A true Italian aperitivo: slightly bitter, pretty bubbles, and served with antipasti!
This drink is made with Prosecco and Campari for a citrus flavoured drink. Serve it with bruschetta, crispy bread sticks, and parma ham.

Il Primo Piatto - Gnocchi Al Burro E Salvia (Gnocchi with Sage Butter Sauce)
Homemade gnocchi coated with sage butter sauce... Try to save room for the rest of the meal.
I love gnocchi but have never made it before. The recipe is involved, but I think I'm up to the task!

Il Secondo Piatto - Baccala Salata Alla Siciliana (Sicilian-Style Salted Cod)
Simmered fish made with dried fruit and vegetables, deliciously seasoned with a mix of spices and just a hint of spiciness.
This almost looks like a fish stew. It's traditionally served on Christmas Eve.

Dessert - Tortoni
Frozen desserts flavoured with a double shot of almond.
This dessert is Italian ice cream topped with amaretto cookie crumbs. It looks delicious and easy to make.

Benvenuto in Italia!

This box is a collaboration with celebrity chef Stefano Faita, host of CBC's In the Kitchen. Liven up your Italian inspired evening with some facts and trivia about the boot shaped country. We also received some Italian or Italian-themed movie recommendations (Life is Beautiful is Stefano's choice), and a music playlist to set the mood.

We also received a letter from Stefano with some tips for better living.

To accompany the recipes, we have a grocery list so you know which fresh ingredients to pickup. The nutrition info and ingredients list is for all the food items included in the box.

Chocolate Chip and Original Panettone
Panettone is an Italian sweet bread enjoyed during the holidays.

Grissini Torines
These long, crunchy bread sticks are a staple in the Piedmont region. You will find them in every bread basket in Italy.

Planeta Olio Extra Vergine
Sicilian olive oil, one of the best olive oil in the world, selected by many chefs, including Stefano Faita.

Bruschetta
Delicious crushed tomatoes, to be used in spreads. Accompanied by gressins and prosciutto this bruschetta will be a tasty and tasty entry.

Spezie Del Mare - Fish Spice Mix
This spice mix is used

Festa Soft Nougat with Chocolate
This is nougat from the Piedmont region of Italy. It's a little something extra!

Amaretti Cookies
These cookies are used with the dessert recipe, but they'd also be fantastic on their own with an espresso.

Our gift for this box is a gnocchi board! FTT says this is an indispensable tool for any self-respecting Italian chef. The ridges help shape pasta and add texture which will hold more sauce!

The Food Trip to Italy box included nine items and four recipes. These items are meant to help you prepare an Italian-themed dinner party for six. Along with the recipes and Italian gourmet goods, we also have some ideas for setting the mood and entertaining the guests. I'm pretty excited about this box. I am looking forward to trying the gnocchi recipe. If you like this box, it's still available for one-time purchase. They also have a special 2-box deal for Italy and Japan! Check out the box shop to buy.

Food Trip To... is offering a promo in time for Mother's Day. Purchase a 3-box plan and get free shipping, which is savings of $29.70! The 3-month plan includes the Food Trip to Argentina box, which is exclusive to subscribers. Use promo code SHIPPINGISONUS at checkout to claim this offer.
