In January I posted about some expected changes to GlobeIn's subscription model. Click here for a refresher. These changes took effect starting this month with the March box. From now on, GlobeIn will offer TWO monthly themes. Active subscribers will have the option to choose between the two monthly themes. Simply login to your account and make your selection by the 10th of each month. Brand new subscribers will likely not have access to either of the new themes as they will be reserved for existing subscribers. Instead, new subscribers will be able to select from a variety of past boxes (see my past box reviews here).

The box includes a custom greeting card in case you wish to gift your box (value of greeting card - $3).

The theme for this box is "Dine".

The word “dine” tends to call to mind the experience of going to a restaurant. But what if every humdrum meal were an opportunity to bring the things we so love about eating out around the home table?
So, disclaimer, this box does not include a wait staff, busser, or team of dishwashers, but it does contain a few carefully selected, handcrafted, choice ingredients, along with handmade tableware that will transport you to a fine dining state of mind.
You could go out—but why? Fanciness, flair, and adventures in flavor are all right here.

 First look!

Le Souk Ceramique Handpainted Serving Bowl from Tunisia ($26)
This dish's skillfully painted lines in a traditional design invokes gentle Mediterranean waves and the air of peace, prosperity, and teamwork embodied by modern Tunisians. Each bowl is painted by hand, resulting in one-of-a-kind works that are truly artisanal.
We have received a few ceramic pieces from Le Souk over the past few months and I am quite a fan. This "Honey Design" piece is very nice.

Le Souk Olivique Olive Wood Spork from Tunisia ($10)
Your Olive Wood Spoon/Spork comes from Le Souk Olivique in Tunisia. This beautiful item may or may not steal the show from your next culinary creation! Coated with food-safe finishing oil made of mineral oil, paraffin wax, and beeswax.
Subscribers will either receive a spoon or a "spork" like this one. Wooden utensils like this are great for serving and much more stylish than boring metal or plastic serving ware. This spork is 12 inches long and carved from olive wood.

U-Kuva i-Africa Moroccan Harissa Spice Grinder from South Africa ($12)
Chilli, salt, caraway, cumin, coriander seed, garlic, mint and coriander leaves: a classic North African blend. Great in traditional Tagines with chicken, lamb, pork, young goat or game fish. Try chickpeas, onions and garlic flavoured with prune and apricot, almonds and date. Serve on steamed coucous or rice with a tall glass of cold lime and mint water. Excellent on roast root vegetables, butternut or pumpkin.
Subscribers received either this Moroccan Harissa or Hot Rocks Mild. I'm excited for this one. It will be great over rice and roasted vegetables!

GlobeIn Palm Leaf Bottle Basket from Mexico ($12)
Transport a bottle of tea or lemonade safely and stylishly to your picnic spot. Also works great for carrying pencils, paint brushes, combs, makeup brushes, or as gift wrap for anything that fits!
They suggest transporting tea or lemonade, but I would obviously use this for wine!

Lotus Foods Organic Volcano Rice from Indonesia ($6)
Did you know that rice nourishes half the people on the planet? So you may not be surprised that rice growth also uses up to a third of the planet’s annual renewable supply of fresh water. Just picture all those acres of sparkling rice paddies throughout southeast Asia and it’s not hard to believe. Grown in West Java volcanic soils rich in magnesium, manganese, and zinc, each grain of your Volcano Rice is bursting with the aroma and essential minerals of this unique and potent terroir.
We received volcano rice once before and it's very good.

The March "Dine" box from GlobeIn included six items valued at $69 US. This is a great theme, but I tend to like themes that involve food and cooking. I like that all the items can be used together. Cook the rice and stir using your olive wood spoon. Season it with Moroccan Harissa. Serve it in the Le Souk Ceramique bowl.
