About the Bag - Ipsy Metropolis
This silver stunner was inspired by skyscrapers! Wear it uptown, downtown, or wherever you'll be slaying this month.

Each month Ipsy sends a sneak peak email where you can view what your products are going to be before they arrive. Here's what my dashboard looked like:
If you don't want a sneak peek before your bag arrives, resist checking the e-mail!

First look!

Briogeo Rosarco™ Blow Dry Perfection Heat Protectant Crème (22ml $4.48)
Oils can do do lots of good things for your hair. This styler has rosehip oil to protect from UV damage, coconut oil to seal in moisture, and argan oil to condition. #triplethreat.
As much as I enjoy products like these, this is the third time I’ve received this exact item from a Beauty Subscription box in the last three months. It does smell delicious so I will most likely use it and I am super intrigued that it contains algae extract to strengthen hair. It’s also paraben free which is a huge bonus!

Pur~lisse Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 mud mask + exfoliant (Travel Size, $20.00)
As a rule, mud masks can be well, messy, but this one makes you feel more like you’re at the spa than running a tough mudder. It also does about 10 million amazing things for your complexion (we’re talking brighten, detoxify, tighten, and soothe, all while gently exfoliating), thanks to a power combo of ingredients including blue lotus seeds, bamboo, white clay, ginger, and mushroom.
The Pur~lisse brand seems to be popping up in a lot of Beauty Subscription Boxes lately. It seems to me that they have reformulated some of their products and we will be seeing a lot more of them in the coming months. This Blue Lotus Seed 5-in-1 mud mask claims to do a lot for your face as it's supposed to brighten, tighten, detoxify, soothe while at the same time gently exfoliate. As the travel size alone is $20, I’m curious if it will live up to its claims and how it will treat my sensitive face?

Smashbox Cosmetics Camera Ready BB Cream SPF 35 (7.1ml, $9.23)
Any time we can quickly and easily get our daily dose of SPF (friendly reminder: you need to wear it everyday), we’re all in. Sun protection, check. Hydration, check. A glowy finish, check. Add a hint of coverage and this BB checks all of our boxes.
I don’t know if it’s an age thing, but I’ve been really into facial products which contain SPF lately. Luckily I received my sample in the light shade so it blends nicely into my light skin. This product goes on smooth and the coverage is enough without being too much. As a bonus, it's also paraben free!

theBalm Cosmetics Bahama Mama (0.57g ~$0.25)
When you get back from a beach vaycay, your skin looks sun-kissed, not orange, right? Point being, any natural-looking bronzer is going to have brown undertones, and this one nails it. And since it’s matte, you can also use it to contour, as shadow, or to fill in brows.
theBalm’s packaging is always amazingly creative, but I can’t help but be disappointed with the sample size as it is super tiny. On the plus side, bronzer is not usually my thing, but Ipsy suggests you can use it to fill in brows because it is matte - brilliant idea! It matches my light brown hair perfectly!

Pacifica BLUSHIOUS in Wildrose (Full Size $12.00)
There’s nothing like a swipe of blush to instantly revive your complexion. This one earns big points for the universally-flattering color, a shimmery rose that never leaves us with clown cheeks. Pacifica’s goodies are not only innovative, but totally sustainable, and they’re all are 100% vegan, gluten- and cruelty-free.
I am very happy I received this blush. At first I was concerned that it would be too dark for my skin colour but it isn’t at all. It adds slight colour to my cheeks with some added shimmer. And again, it’s vegan, gluten- and cruelty-free.

The January ipsy bag included five products with a retail value of $46 US. This box cost me $20.51 CDN with exchange. Four of the five products are deluxe samples, so it's a decent month for value. I'm happy with the products for the most part, but wish I received more cosmetics, like mascara or eyeliner. I am going to update my IpsyMatch Profile and ensure I review my products online, as this will help them custom-tailor a better Glam Bag for me next month.
