The Barrel Box is a new Canadian subscription box for booze and bar aficionados. Unfortunately, The Barrel Box does not include alcohol. You'll have to supply that yourself!

First Look!

There are several inserts in the box. There is a card detailing everything in the box and there's a recipe for an "Amaretto Limone". The most interesting item is the Club Prestige card on the bottom right. The Barrel Box has an interesting rewards program. Each month, you receive "1 Gallon". Collect and save your Gallons and redeem them for great bar-related items! You can gain extra Gallons by participating in activities through The Barrel Box's Facebook page!

Second Look!

Mons Ales Glass and Shot Glass (~$15)
Mons Abbey Ales are made in Quebec by Brasserie Belgh Brasse. I've never seen this beer in BC, so I'm not sure it's available here. BC has some pretty restrictive liquor import laws. This glass is a goblet, or chalice. According to my research, goblets are best for stronger beers and ales (see more here). The shot glass is included so you can pour the last yeast-rich ounce of beer so you can get the most out of your beer.

Angostura Bitters ($10.99)
Bitters is a classic cocktail accompaniment. Some of the most famous cocktails call for a dash of bitters, including Old Fashioned, Negroni, Manhatten, and more. According to Angostura, "bitters create beautiful layers of flavour, and bring wonderful balance to drink and food recipes in just a few magical dashes". Bitters have become a little trendy, and they are now available in loads of flavours from many "small batch" companies (check some out here).

Liquor Pourers (similar - $5.99)
These pourers have a drip-free seal and give a precise flow. A couple of these in your bar cart will add a professional looking touch.

The Barrel Box Button Coasters (~$5)
These coasters are like giant metal button pins, with cork on the underside.

The Barrel Box T-Shirt (~$15)
This soft cotton t-shirt features a custom design for The Barrel Box!

Belgh Brasse and Poppers Bandanas (~$5)
These seem like promotional items that brands give out for free with purchase. My boyfriend will be able to put them to use as rags, or for use while hiking.

The November collection from The Barrel Box included eight items, with an estimated value close to $60 CDN. This box costs $34.99 CDN, plus shipping. I like the idea behind this box. It would be a good one for someone with a home bar, or a booze aficionado. I like the barware, gadgets, and cocktail items included.

Interested in trying The Barrel Box? Use promo code CDNBOXAD to save 10% off any subscription package! Code will not show a discount amount in your cart, but your total at checkout will reflect a 10% discount. On a monthly plan, it comes to $43.19 with tax and shipping (instead of $46.69).
