Carnivore Club is a Canadian subscription service that aims to satisfy your inner carnivore! Carnivore Club sends and impressive faux-wood box filled with 4-6 handcrafted cured meats from top artisans.

Each month’s box is themed around one producer specializing in a particular style of cured meats: French Charcuterie, Italian Salumi, Spanish Chorizo, South African Biltong and Artisanal Jerky are but a few.

Carnivore Club offers monthly, bi-monthly, or quarterly subscriptions. You can also purchase a single month (non-recurring) to try it out, or purchase gift subscriptions for your friends. Cancellation is easy and can be done any time through your online account. They also have a referral program, which earns you $15 credit for every friend that signs up and places an order.

First look - packed full!

This month we are sampling meats from Canadian supplier Salumeria Il Tagliere. It is a family run company in Ontario that produces authentic artisan handcrafted salami and other cured meats. I was also happy to see they have online ordering!

The product card includes information about this month's supplier, details on each item, and some facts about cured meats.

Salame Felino
Prepared according to the artisanal recipe of Felino (Parma, Italy), in natural casing using the highest quality ingredients. Seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and garlic-infused Chardonnay, and aged for 75 days to yield the characteristic smooth and subtle flavour.

I really tasted the Chardonnay with this one. It's very mild seasoning wise and would pair well with strong cheese.

Rolled pork belly with distinctive aromatic flavour. Slowly aged for at least 120 days to obtain supremely smooth, balanced flavour and aroma.

Pancetta is very similar to bacon, except it's not smoked. It can be used in much the same way as bacon though. I'm trying to come up with a good dish to use this so I haven't taken it out of the package yet.

Rosemary Cacciatore
Smaller salame with a distinctive, smooth flavour. Seasoned with sea salt, black pepper, garlic, and rosemary.

This salami is the size of a pepperoni stick, which is nice for snacking. The rosemary taste is subtle but quite nice.

For the next three items, I didn't get out-of-packaging photos because I took these to a party and shared with friends and family.

Cranberry Stickini
Antibiotic-free Willowgrove pork is gently seasoned and complimented with sweet, tart cranberries. This stickini also features DHA Omega 3s, but all you'll notice is the perfect flavour balance between the salty and sweet.
I didn't get the cranberry flavour out of this at all, but it was still very good. My aunt enjoyed these products so much, she took one of the labels home with her so she could look at buying more!

Fennel Stickini
Made with antibiotic-free Willowgrove pork, this pork is also the first and only with DHA Omega 3s. The floavour is pure, meaty heave and on of Il Tagliere's most popular offerings.
This one had much more flavour than the cranberry and I liked it quite a bit. These stickini are great cut up on a cheese platter.

Sweet Cacciatore
Smaller salame with a distinctive, smooth flavour. Seasoned with sea salt, black pepper and garlic-infused white wine.
I really liked the sweet cacciatore. The sweetness was subtle but balanced well with the wine, pepper, and garlic.

The October box from Carnivore Club included six different offerings from Salumeria Il Tagliere in Ontario. These products are smaller versions of Il Tagliere's product line, so it's not possible to due a true valuation, but I have no doubt this box is worth the cost paid and then some. At $50 a box, these products work out to just over $8 each, and that doesn't factor in the included cost of shipping! I really enjoyed this box and the products from Il Tagliere. I will probably order from them again.

Here is a sneak peek for November's box:

  1. A nice selection of meats in here.

  2. I was extremely disappointed with Carnivore Club. Both their product and their service. I ordered the Christmas Box as a Christmas gift for my girlfriend. It was the only thing she asked for. When we opened it, we found that the packaging on one of the sausage spreads had failed and that oil saturated all of the other products in the box. When i reached out to Carnivore Club's service department they told me that there was only an issue with one of the products (the sausage spread) and so they would replace that product and give me a $5 credit for the next box that I ordered. So in essence, they didn't recognize that any of the other oil soaked products had any issues and then asked me to spend another $50 with them. No thanks. Wouldn't recommend.

    1. Thank you for the feedback. I've had to deal with customer service a few times for billing issues and they have always been helpful. I would be annoyed too if they didn't refund or replace the entire spoiled box.
