First look!

September features the Argentine Spice Box.
Hola Buenos Aires! Skewers of smoky juiciness tango around you in a sensual and tantalizing manner. Argentina is a country of bold flavors. Textured coffee, voluptuous red wine, and succulent meats are table staples. And this boldness is translated from a bold and cultural history. Argentina had been a place of changing populations since the first wave of Spanish colonization. The native populations, the Tehuelche people, before the Spanish arrived, were agricultural farmers. When the Spanish arrived in 1536, they introduced cattle to La Pampa, fertile vast plains. Hungry cows forever changed the Argentinian landscape and cuisine forever. Waves of immigrants have also imprinted on the food. Immigrants from Italy brought Pizza and the French brought bread (as usual). This box is an attempt to rope these bold gustatory flavors.
Salud Gauchos!

Sun Dried Tomato Pizza & Pizza Sauce
The sun-dried tomato pizza blend gives a nod to Buenos Aires, one of the world's great pizza capitals. There are quite a few alternative recipes this month as well. Instead of pizza, try Sun-Dried Tomato Hummus, Spinach Prosciutto Pizza, Tomato Quinoa & Butternut Squash Salad, or Cheese Tomato Bread. There is also a gluten-free pizza recipe, using potato!

This chipotle smoked salt gives a rich, toasted pepper taste to grilled vegetables. RawSpiceBar also suggests adding it to guacamole!

This robust dark roast coffee and chili blend is perfect as a dry rub for steaks. For a vegetarian dish, try hearty grilled beets or roasted vegetables. There are also a couple alternative meat recipes including Pork Tenderloin and Beef Short Ribs. I'm going to try the Coffee-Chili Rubbed Beef Short Ribs recipe!

The September RawSpiceBar, sampling Argentinian cuisine, included 0.9oz of spices and three recipes. Additionally, there are about a dozen alternative recipes on the RawSpiceBar website. It's great that they give so many alternative recipes, including vegetarian options.
