Fortune Cookie Soap Box Review - Fall 2016 - Bath & Body Subscription Box

This box was provided complimentary for review.
What is it? Fortune Cookie Soap Box
How much? $19.99 per quarter, plus $8 shipping to Canada. Prices in US dollars.
What's in it? 8 mini size bath & body products from an upcoming collection. Ships 4 times per year.

Fortune Cookie Soap is a company that produces handcrafted bath and body products. FCS has a major product launch four times per year, so each season FCS puts together a limited edition box containing 8 mini-size products from the upcoming collection. The Soap Box ships approximately two weeks prior to the launch, giving subscribers an opportunity to try out the new fragrances and formulas, before committing to full size versions. The box also includes a $10 gift code, which can be used on the FCS website to purchase your favourite items.

The theme for Fall 2016 is... The Princess Bride! What a great, nostalgic theme. The Princess Bride is one of my all-time favourite movies!

First look!

Product card!

Prepare to Die OCD Hand Sanitizer ($2.89)
I love FCS hand sanitizers. This one is a "warm blend of fresh baked cookie dough spiced with clove and saffron".

Buttercup Shampoo
This is the first shampoo sample I've received from FCS. It smells like "candied rum wrapped with ripe fig, bergamot, vetiver, warm sandalwood, and sweet vanilla musk.

Mostly Dead Whipped Cream Body Butter
The scent profile here is "golden honey drizzled over toasted almonds and pumpkin puree, warmed with amber".

Pit of Despair Steam Me Up Scotty ($2)
These heavily scented shower fizzies are great. This one is a blend of patchouli, lemongrass, and plumeria.

Knight Cream Facial Mosturizer
Face cream is a new one for FCS. It's unscented too, so it doesn't really go with the fun theme, but it's nice to try their new products.

Inconceivable Perfume Oil
Imagine fall woods, black amber, and poached pears topped with whipped vanilla cream. Yum!

True Love Facial Cleansing Oil
This is another new product. It contains citrus extract, jasmine petals, and sea salt.

Drop. Your. Sword. Fortune Cookie Soap ($3.99)
This soap is a blend of honey and apple mead. It's the Dreaded Pirate Roberts in a soap!

The Fall 2016 Soap Box from Fortune Cookie Soap contained eight products. Two are full size, and the rest are samples. All are from the upcoming "As You Wish" collection, inspired by The Princess Bride. The scents and profiles are all perfect for autumn. The theme is fun and so darn creative. They missed a couple of my favourite lines though... Anyone remember "No more rhymes now. I mean it!"? I've often thought this would be a great box for tweens because of the fun and creative themes.

If handmade bath and body products interest you, this box is a great way to sample different FCS products. I'd recommend this box for a teen or tween due to the whimsical themes and product branding. One concern would be for those with allergies or sensitive skin. While the website lists ingredients for each product, most of the sample sizes do not include an ingredients list and some of the online descriptions are vague.

The Winter 2016 edition of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box ships around December 2016. If you are interested, be sure to sign up soon! If any of these Summer themed products interest you, check out the Fortune Cookie Soap website. The "As You Wish" collection is available now!

  1. Great things! I'm not into bath and body products but this would be nice to gift to someone who does.
