What is GlobeIn Artisan Gift Box? It's a “globe in a box” - a collection of artisan-made products from around the world, curated around a central theme. Click here to see all my previous GlobeIn Gift Box reviews.

Here is my review of the Limited Edition Jewelry Box.

The jewellery items come packaged inside a small turquoise branded box.

We created your jewelry box in collaboration with Tribe Alive, a social fashion business founded on the belief that there is nothing more fashionable than giving back. Tribe Alive partners with artisan collectives around the world, providing them a vital connection to the global marketplace, while offering training and support.

Your new charms, made specially for this collection, amplify the profound growth their partnership has already generated with Mi Esperanza in Honduras and Maya Traditions in Guatemala. Because fashion is meant to make a statement. And these pieces truly do.

The items come tucked inside a small palm leaf pouch from Mexico. This is similar to the handwoven baskets that come in the monthly GlobeIn Arisan box.

First look!

Crescent Stud Earrings ($25)
Small in size but oh-so impossible to ignore thanks to their sharp geometric shape and softly worn finish.

These pretty earrings were made from an artisan in Honduras. Click here to read more of her story.

Duo Ring ($25)
A brass ring with double the detail.

This ring is also made in Honduras by the same woman who made the earrings. It fits a little small and I didn't want to mess around with the shape, so it only works on my pinky finger.

Wave Cuff ($32)
A wisp of brass with bold design, your new wave cuff manages to be both opulent and ethereal, sporty with a whiff of Egyptian queen.

This cuff is simple and lovely. The ends are a little pokey, but once on, it's no issue. This one was also made by a woman in Honduras and you can read her story here.

Token Pendant Necklace ($35)
Minimal yet romantic, this fine token of brass is a token of hope that lies close to the heart.

This necklace was made by a Honduran woman who spent time in the US while recovering from heart surgery. While there, she learned how to make and sell jewellery. Click here to read more.

Woven Pouch ($18)
Your brass jewelry is best kept stored in a dry, sealed place. Luckily, we’ve got you totally covered with your new Maya Traditions hand-woven pouch complete with interior lining to treat your jewelry well.
This pouch was made in Guatemala and features traditional Mayan backstrap weaving.

Woven Palm Leaf Pouch ($12)
Just what can’t our Oaxacan weaving friends make out of palm leaves? A variation on our usual basket, your new pouch is the perfect addition to your purse or tote, keeping jewelry, makeup, or money safe—and stylishly so. Think of it as a basket you can travel with!
This is a handy little pouch and would be great for gifting or for holding small items while travelling.

Close up of the jewellery!

Care Instructions: Do you like an aged, patina look to your brass jewelry, or prefer it to always be bright and shiny? If shiny is your thing, periodically soak all the pieces in this box in a mixture of water and lemon juice for five minutes, then rinse thoroughly and dry.

The Limited Edition Jewelry Box contained four jewellery items plus two handmade pouches valued at $147 US. The items are all brass, so GlobeIn also included care instructions. It's a fantastic collection, and supports a great cause. I love the earrings and necklace. The bracelet will be great stacked with some other pieces. I will probably gift the ring because it's just too small for me. I really enjoyed this box, and I'm hoping it means GlobeIn is thinking of offering a regular jewellery box.

  1. I had an unpleasant first experience with GlobeIn. I ordered 2 boxes and a picnic mat from Canada and firstly, they sent the order without a tracking code so I had no idea when they would arrive. Then when it arrived, it was incomplete. I wrote to their support/customer service team about it and it took them awhile to get back to me. They sent me my replacement item (no complimentary items to build back goodwill) again without tracking. So now, more than a month after I placed my order, I'm tracking those items through an unresponsive support staff. Halfway through, I got a random email thanking me for my second order, which I clarified I did not make.

Excitement turns into frustration. Sure the products are okay and they are for a good cause, but I would look elsewhere with better logistics and customer management to make an positive impact.

    1. I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience. They typically send an automatic email with tracking each month.
