YumiBox Review - Launch Box - Canadian Nutrition Subscription Box + PROMO CODE

This box was provided complimentary for review.
What is it? YUMiBOX
How Much? $35 per month, including shipping and tax. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What's in it? A bag of whole grain mix, a back of breakfast mix, and healthy snacks

YUMiBOX is a new Canadian subscription that sends healthy grain mixes and snacks. According to the co-founder Zoey, "YUMiBOX was created to bring back whole grains and to inspire healthy carbohydrate choices for overall health, as well as blood sugar management". Zoey says that eating healthy carbohydrates is difficult for most people, and that whole grains have been forgotten (or demonized - we all know about the low-carb diet craze!). YUMiBOX is for people with blood sugar control needs, or those that wish to explore healthy carbohydrate options.
Whole grains are higher in fibre, vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals compared to refined grains. Take advantage of whole grains for prevention of some cancers, and blood sugar, heart, and brain health.

Each month the box will include a bag of whole grain mix, a bag of breakfast oatmeal mix, healthy snacks, and recipe cards. Both mixes offer at least 8 servings and a different flavour will be featured each month. The breakfast mixes are sweetened with Stevia and contain nuts, fruit, and other exotic ingredients. The mixes are loaded with soluble fiber so it's a great way to start your day!

First look
I was able to review the YUMiBOX pilot project box in April. It's been a couple of months, but YUMiBOX is finally ready to go, with boxes going out to subscribers June 15th.

Oh Berry Berri Breakfast Mix
This mix contains rolled oats, quick oats, freeze dried blueberry, freeze dried strawberry, and stevia powder. Each 1/2 cup serving contains 4 grams of fiber.

The package instructions suggest mixing the mix with water and microwaving, but I prefer to eat it dry over yogurt, or as a cereal with almond milk. It's pretty sweet on its own, so be sure to use plain, unsweetened milk or yogurt!

Mexican Taco Grain Mix
This mix contains barley, white quinoa, red lentil, dried jalapeno, taco seasoning, and salt. Each 1/3 cup serving contains 8 grams of fiber and 9 grams of protein.

This mix cooks similar to rice and only takes 20-30 minutes to cook. This one was very tasty and it was a great alternative to rice. I enjoyed it as a side dish, but also used it in burritos and salads.

KIND Honey Roasted Nuts & Sea Salt Bar
KIND bars are gluten free and low sugar.

Qi'a Blueberry Cashew Pumpkin Seed Bar
These superfood snack bars contain 4g of fiber and 5g of protein per bar.

Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts Sample
Hemp hearts are great sprinkled over yogurt, salads, and cereal. I also add them to smoothies.

The first YUMiBOX included some great whole grain mixes and snacks. I really enjoyed the Mexican Taco mix. It was easy to make, tasted great, and really satiated my appetite. It was nice to have something different, unique, and healthy in my pantry. Value wise, I find it pretty good, especially since the subscription cost includes tax and shipping. I like the concept of this box so much, I signed up!
