What is it? Bon Recipé
How Much? As low as $3.99 per month to $12.99 per month, plus $8.99 shipping per package. Prices in US dollars.
What's in it? 5 printed recipes, grocery lists, coupons, and more

Bon Recipe is a new subscription service that sends you recipes from popular food bloggers in the mail every month. Each package includes a selection of recipes printed on the highest quality paper and cardstock. Along with recipes, your package may include grocery and food retailer coupons, a customized grocery list, promo codes for cuisine-related shopping, and education materials and info-graphics. Read more about the Bon Recipé story here.
The average person can spend up to 4 hours every month (that's 2 entire days a year!) browsing for recipes online, along with putting together grocery lists and downloading coupons. Let's put a stop to that. Here at Bon Recipé, we'll do all that work for you, so you can focus on doing what you love. We mail curated recipes from the best food bloggers to you each month. In fact, you may never need to buy a cookbook again.

There are a few different subscription options available. First, pick if you want your recipes on paper (80lb), cardstock (10 pt), or laminated cardstock. Next select if you want 4x6 recipe cards or 8.5x11 hole-punched sheets. The larger size is an additional cost and varies depending on which paper you choose. The cards are great for those who prefer to keep their recipes in a box. The larger size are great for those who keep their recipes in a binder (that's me!). The large size also includes nutrition facts. The next step is to select your dietary preference. There's Omnivore, Vegetarian, Vegan, Gluten-Free, or Paleo. Finally, select your subscription term. Save more on longer terms, with the best value being a year long pre-paid subscription.

A portion of the proceeds from your subscription are donated to Feed the Children. Founded in 1979, they've distributed more than 104 million pounds of food and other essentials to children and their families across the USA and internationally.

I received a sample package to review and share. This package contains a selection of recipes in different formats so you can see the various options.

4x6 Recipe Cards - These are both printed on cardstock and formatted for a small recipe box. They are digitally printed with full colour. The recipes are easy to read and follow and each one also includes Weight Watchers points totals.

This is the laminated version of the 4x6 recipe card. I have to say that I like the laminated version better, just because it's more durable.

8.5x11 Recipe Sheets - These are samples of the 8.5x11 size. They come pre-punched so you can add it right to your recipe binder.

As you can see, the recipes are clearly laid out and easy to follow. The 8.5x11 format includes nutrition facts, as well as Weight Watchers points.

This is the laminated version of the 8.5x11. The lamination makes the page a little too big so it doesn't actually fit into my recipe binder. In the 8.5x11 size, I prefer the regular cardstock.

Coupon Samples - These coupons are only valid in the US and Bon Recipé notes that they can't guarantee the usability of the coupons outside US.

There is a separate grocery list created for each recipe. This is a nice touch. You just cut out the list you need and take it with you to the store.

Bon Recipé is a first in the subscription marketplace and it's a really interesting concept. As this is a sample pack, I didn't really get a sense of how the recipes tie together or if there is a theme. It would be great if they send seasonally appropriate recipes each month, taking into consideration the time of year, special holidays and the growing seasons. Going forward, Bon Recipé indicated that they want to include educational material to enhance subscribers' culinary knowledge base and help them become better chefs. This is a great idea and would make the subscription more interesting and fun!

As for the format, my preference is for the cardstock, laminated 4x6 or unlaminated 8.5x11. The month-to-month price is $6.99 (for paper) to $12.99 (for laminated cardstock), plus shipping, which is an additional $8.99 per month to Canada. You can save on longer term subscriptions, with year-long terms being the most cost effective (especially if you use the promo code posted at the end of this review). As for the shipping cost, Bon Recipé provided the following information:
We're working hard on finding a better way to ship internationally because we really want to better accommodate our customers in Canada, the UK, Australia, and other countries outside the USA. Once we finalize our solution, we'll update our shipping rates and make an announcement. Until then, we still welcome customers from all across the globe and we're excited to see our product used internationally!
