What is it? Vancity Box
How Much? $49.95/month, including shipping and tax. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What’s in it? 5-8 handmade, artisan, and local products made by BC vendors

Vancity Box is a new Canadian subscription box focusing on handmade artisan products from Vancouver, BC and the surrounding area. I was pretty excited when I first learned about Vancity Box, as I am a Vancity girl and I love discovering new locally made products and edibles. With Vancity Box, you will get 5-8 products, with a retail value of up to $80. Products may include soaps, sncks, drinks, handmade items, knits, and more. It's a craft market delivered to your door!

Living in Vancouver for so many years  made us fall in love with everything it has to offer. Whether it be the nature in our backyard, countless types of foods and restaurants, active and healthy lifestyle choices,  or  the number of small businesses that make up more than 90% of companies in BC. We can really agree that it is the best place to live!

First look - Not much to see. Let's dig further...

Linquet Device + 1 Year Free ($30 value)
Linquet is a Vancouver-based tech company "focused on connecting real things to the Cloud and making dumb objects smart". The Linquet device and app aim to prevent the loss of your phone and valuables by connecting them to each other through Bluetooth. When your phone and "linqued" item fall out of range, both will emit an alarm and you will be able to track your missing item. Learn more here. The Linquet device is free, but the "linqued" service starts at $2.50 per month ($30/year). It's a small price to pay for peace of mind, especially for a bicycle or other high-risk item. About a week after receiving my box, I received an e-mail from the Linqued up team which included a registration code to sign-up for a year of free service.

Pointing Finger Bookmark (~$2)
I had no idea what this was when I first saw it. It's a large silicone elastic-y thing with a pointing finger on it. I finally figured out that it's a bookmark that stretches around your pages. There is no information on this item in the box, so I have no idea where it's from or what Vancouver business it represents. I really wish Vancity Box would include a product info card! A quick Google search and I found these widely available for a couple of bucks from Amazon,  Ali Express, and other discount retailers.

Scrubs & Bubbles Soap Company Rosemary Mint Soap ($10)
Goodness does this soap ever smell amazing. I love the smell of mint, especially in the shower. It's invigorating!

Urban Body Organics Mood Mist - Ease ($20)
This room spray is a soothing blend of lavender and frankincense mingled with rejuvenating pine and geranium. It is designed to aid in calming the mind and grounding the spirit.

Cedar and Stain Mug ($17)
Regular readers may remember Cedar and Stain from my January Ellebox. In that review, I wrote how I loved the Fox version. And here it is! If you wish it, it will come. Meet my new office mug! Now I am going to wish for this "Well Shit" mug to appear in a subscription box.

The May Vancity Box included five items, with a value of about $80. It's a diverse mix of products and I like that we received a tech item this month. My one complaint is that I would have liked to see some packaging or info on the bookmark. The mug is my favourite, and I'm looking forward to trying out the Linquet device.
