Magnolia Post Co. Review - May 2016 - Canadian Clothing Box + PROMO CODE

This box was provided complimentary for review.

What is it? Magnolia Post Co.
How Much? Varies - Approx $85 per collection plus tax and $14.95 shipping. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What’s in it? Outfit of your choice, plus bonus items from featured brands

Magnolia Post Co. is a Canadian fashion service, based in Kelowna, BC. Each month, Magnolia Post releases a new outfit (or two) from unique brands. The goal of Magnolia Post is to offer budget friendly and versatile pieces so you can keep your style up to date and your closet full of options. This is not a subscription. You pay per collection and you can buy whichever one you want, whenever you want, while supplies last.
Magnolia Post is a fashion discovery service delivering new styles every month. It’s the perfect way to build your wardrobe and introduce yourself to styles you might not have discovered on your own. We want to deliver basic pieces that are on trend and versatile. We want to keep you under budget and build your wardrobe at the same time.

Magnolia Post first launched in September 2015 as a surprise "grab bag" fashion subscription. I avoided the service for that reason. This new format really appeals to me as it allows you to view the collections in advance and decide whether or not you want to purchase (similar to Popbasic, although Popbasic is no longer releasing collections). Magnolia Post does not accept returns, but they do run a "Swap & Shop" Facebook page for other members to sell and trade pieces that don't work.

For May, Magnolia Post has three collections available. The Mackenzie Collection includes a reversible floral tank and a convertible moto jacket/vest. The Mackenzie is available in Black or Grey. The third option is the Paige Collection, and includes a floral kimono and midi-length tank dress. All three collections are available for $85 Canadian, plus tax and shipping. Supplies are limited, and some sizes sell out quickly.

Something I noticed immediately is the limited size range. Collections are only available in size small, medium, or large. I also noticed there isn't much information provided on the clothing items. The descriptions only list what is included in the collection. There is no information about fabric composition, wash instructions, or size charts (I like how Nerd Block does there t-shirt size chart). When buying clothes online, I pour over the details to ensure the item is right for me, so it would be nice if Magnolia made the product descriptions more descriptive.

The box was smaller than I expected, but it was packaged with care. While this box was provided complimentary for review, I still had the opportunity to view the collections and select the outfit and size I wanted. I selected the Mackenzie Collection in grey, size large.

This collection includes two clothing pieces, plus some extra bonuses from featured brands. Let's see the bonus items first!

Mint to Inspire Hair Ties ($5)
I hate these hair ties for hair, but they are great for travel. I use them to secure my clothes after rolling. Side note - the Mint to Inspire Etsy shop has some very cute things!

Dermadeli Rejuvenating Toner (10ml sample)
This toner is said to remove cellular debris, tighten pores, and firm skin. It helps seal in moisture and refine pores.

Abbey Lane Farm Tangerine & Cinnamon Lip Balm ($6)
This is a beeswax and cocoa butter lip balm, scented with tangerine and cinnamon.

Elle Jewels Lotus Flower Necklace ($18.95)
This lovely necklace features a lotus flower and a small gem. I received a similar lotus flower necklace in a BuddhiBox, but I lost it! I'm very happy to have another one.

Hayden Los Angeles Reversible Floral Tank
I picked the grey version of the Mackenzie Collection because of this pretty floral tank. It's a great piece for spring and summer. Even better, it's reversible. The tank is actually double layered, with a solid colour on the inside.

This is the tank inside out. It's two tanks in one! I loved this as soon as I took it out of the box. The style and colours are great (although it's more cream/beige than white). I found it the fit a tad small in the bust area, but it's still wearable. For reference, the large is about 19.5" across the bust, 23" across the hips, and 27" from top to bottom. This tank is 100% polyester and the tag suggests hand wash and hang to dry.

Umgee Two Way Moto Jacket - Grey
This moto jacket has zip off arms, so it converts to a vest! It's slightly cropped, and I hate the belt, but it's pretty cute and fits well. It's 65% cotton and 35% polyester and listed as hand-wash only. This jacket is retailing on Shoptiques for $95 US

This is the Mackenzie Collection paired together. Wear these pieces with a pair of dark skinny jeans and you're all set for date night.

May's Mackenzie Collection from Magnolia Post Co. included two clothing items, and four bonus accessories and beauty items. I can't do a full valuation on this box, but the bonus items alone total about $30 Canadian, so I'm pretty sure the value is met with the jacket and tank. I really enjoyed this box. The clothing items are great quality (better than I expected), and I love the versatility of each item (they'd be great for travel). Each piece can be worn two ways so it's like I received four items instead of two! I would like to see Magnolia Post offer more sizes (maybe XS and XL) and include more detailed information about the items in each collection, but other than that, I quite enjoyed my experience with the service. I also received word that Magnolia Post is working to reduce the shipping cost, hopefully by June, so that's a bonus too!

The May collections are still available for purchase, however some sizes are sold out. Head over to Magnolia Post Co. to see what's left and use promo code cdnboxaddict at checkout to save $10 off your first order!
