Inside packaging

Along with the product sheet, they included an Awesome Birthday Card. G's birthday was at the end of March. That's a nice touch!

Pretense: A Game Night Social Metagame ($10)
Pretense was funded through Kickstarter in 2015. According to the creator, "Pretense is a game night social metagame. Essentially it's a game that you play DURING other games. You have a secret role and a secret objective, and if you accomplish it, you gain a point AND you steal someone's role. With that role you can try to gain more points and more roles. It plays from 2-12 and is great on a good sized game night with about 5-6 people". There's more information about it here

Trixo: Beyond the Matrix ($15)
Trixo is a game of memory, strategy and luck. It uses small square tiles. "On a 3 x 3 grid, place your X tiles, your O tiles and your Trixo tiles to make a vertical, horizontal or diagonal line of 3 identical pieces. Once you win a line, you take the pieces and on it goes. Contains 36 tiles (14 X, 14 O, 5 Trixo tiles and 3 Slide tiles) with game rules in French and English."

The Web ($20)
This seems like a more intense version of Checkers. "Panic in the web! Two spider clans are fightin each other in an epic duel! Spiders in bigger groups will defeat the weakest in the intersections of the web. A thrilling and challenging strategy game, where players attack and capture their opponent's spiders."

Pamplona Viva San Fermin ($49.95)
Pamplona reproduces the famous San Fermin "running of the bulls" festival in board game version. "Players must run all of the 4 sectors of the race, escaping from the opponents' bull and steers, while trying to gore or trample the opponents using their own. This is not a race. The winner is not necessarily the first runner to cross the finishing line, but the one who shows the most courage." There's a pretty good review of it here.

The April Awesome Pack included four board games, with a retail value around $95 US (about $120 CDN). This box costs $50 CDN per month. so it's a great value this time around. I really like the concept of Trixo and The Web. Pretense doesn't really appeal to me and isn't something me or my  friends would play. I wasn't sure about Pamplona, but after reading a few reviews, it looks really interesting. After every shipment, Awesome Pack sends a satisfaction survey via e-mail. Subscribers can outline what they liked and disliked about each shipment so the Awesome Pack team can better customize the next shipment. Previously I've indicated that I don't want collectibles and I prefer games for 2-4 people. This shipment shows how hard they work to customize boxes to suit the needs of their subscribers!
