Ellebox Co. is a new Canadian "time of the month" subscription box that sends everything you need to survive your monthly cycle. Ellebox Co. aims to revolutionize your period by ensuring you receive a box in time, for your time, every time. There are a range of subscription options to choose from, with several price points. Shipping is an additional $5 per box and all prices are in Canadian dollars.
  • The Comfort Box offers your choice or tampons and/or pads, chocolate, tea, and two self care gifts. It starts at $33.40 per month. Alternatively, the Organic Comfort Box starts at $36.40 per month.
  • The Necessities Box offers your choice of tampons and/or pads, as well as chocolate and tea. It starts at $12 per month. There is also an Organic Necessities Box starting at $17 per month.

All boxes come with up to 25 feminine hygiene products. You specify the number of pads versus tampons, then choose your preferred size and brand. With the non-organic box, Tampax Pearl, Playtex Sport, U by Kotex, and Playtex Gentle Glide are available.
The product card says that for February, Ellebox is doing a special feature on one of their favourite Vancouver companies, Balmbay Collective, so they are sending us two Balmbay products!

The Capilano Tea House - Hiking The Canyon Tea (3 tea bags)
This North-meets-South blend nourishes and energizes. Pre-contact, our ancestors cooked and ate Stinging Nettles - rich in minerals, including iron and magnesium - also known as Indian Spinach. Combining the nettles with citrus fruits and flowers, rich in Vitamin C, increases absorption and flavour. Whether you’re actually hiking a canyon or just dreaming about it, lift off with this Indigenous plant-inspired tea, hot or cold.
This is the 4th blend we've received from Capilano Tea House. It would be nice to experience some blends from other local Vancouver tea shops though. I do like that the tea is bagged this month rather than loose leaf.

Balmbay Lip Exfoliator (2oz, $6.45)
Our (lemon) lip exfoliator works to remove the dead skin on the surface of your lips by bringing out the fresh new layer of skin underneath. It leaves your skin feeling fresh and super soft.
This all natural sugar based lip exfoliant smells great (and tastes good too if you accidently ingest some). It's 100% natural.

Daniel Le Chocolate Emergency Chocolate (30g bar, $1.40)
This is a Vancouver-based chocolatier that creates bars with no artificial additives, flavourings or preservatives. This is a 30g mini bar. A full size bar is 85g.

Balmbay Coffee Sugar Scrub ($13.95)
Coffee grounds are a mechanical exfoliate, which can help to reveal the new, healthy skin underneath the dead skin.
I love scrubs in general, and coffee scrubs specifically. The smell is divine and it's a great way to wake up in the shower in the morning. Coffee grounds aren't great for the plumbing though so I use them sparingly. Also of note... they have a coffee lip balm. I must have it!

U by Kotex Pads (12 pads, ~$4) and Tampax Pearl Regular (13 tampons, ~$4)
These are the brands and product number I requested. The options are 13 pads/12 tampons, 12 pads/13 tampons, all pads, or all tampons. After that you can select your desired absorbancy and the quantity of each you'd like to receive. Of your tampons, you can select how many are Super and how many are Regular. Same goes for the pads. You can choose Regular, With Wings, or Overnight. The customization is great. The only problem I'm found is that you can't update your preferences on your own - you have to e-mail. I'd also like to see an option for panty liners.

These are a bonus added to the box each month.

The February Ellebox included all the supplies needed for my monthly cycle, a chocolate bar, tea, and two beauty gifts. The value is over $30 CDN. The gift and treat items in this box are all from local Vancouver companies. That is my most favourite aspect of Ellebox. I love learning about new local businesses and products. I'm definitely going to order some coffee lip balm from Balmbay (they also have cola scent)! While I have enjoyed my Ellebox subscription, I decided to cancel for now. I'm finding I'm receiving far more feminine supplies than I need per month so I have quite a stockpile right now.

  1. Great box. I like that is so customizable and not one size fits a all. Nice review
