This is a review for the Hatchling box.

In honour of Valentine's Day, the February theme is "Share the Love". The box includes two of every snack so you can share with a special someone.

First look

Love Note Card & Stamp (~$1.50)
This month, Student Velocity wants you to share the love by sending a message to a friend or family member. The stamp is a nice touch, but it would have been great to receive more note cards.

Brookside Dark Chocolate in Goji & Rasperry and Acai & Blueberry (2 x 20g packs, $0.65)

U-Raaw Customized Energy Bars (2 x $2.50)
U-Raaw is a Canadian company that creates customized energy bars, trail mix, smoothie mix, and cereal. For the bars, select your size, base, protein, sweeteners, and add-ins like dried fruit and nuts. You will receive a box of custom made bars with your name right on the label! These ones were custom made for Student Velocity. The ingredients are listed  on the back of the label, but you could keep it a surprise and eat before looking! This is a great concept and a box of these  bars would make a fantastic and unique gift or party favour.

Poof Slinky Tetris Card Game ($8.99 retail, $5 sale)
Student Velocity says this card game (or any card game, really) is another great way to get out and enjoy the company of others.

Post-It Super Sticky Notes Rio de Janeiro Collection ($2.81)
The only thing Valentine-y about this is the colour, but Post-It's are great for study.

Bonus - Heart Chocolates
What's Valentine's Day without chocolate!?!

Bonus - Recipe for Microwave "No-bake Oatmeal Cookies
Perfect for students and those living in dorms. These cookies are easy to make since they are "cooked" in a microwave!

The February Student Velocity "Hatchling Box" included 7 items, plus some bonus chocolate hearts. The retail value of these items is only around $19, and that's being generous. The Hatchling Box is supposed to include 3-4 lifestyle items, plus at least two snacks. The lifestyle items this month are the Post-It's, Tetris Cards, and a single note card with stamp. It feels like something is missing. There is no "shining star" standout item like with previous Hatchling boxes (the JoCo mug in November and the Alpaca socks in December). While the theme for February is great, the box itself is a tad disappointing... and I hate to say it because all of my previous Student Velocity boxes have been absolutely fantastic.

  2. This box was their most disappointing box by far. Otherwise this is my favourite subscription box!
