The theme of the February Artisan Box is Rise & Shine.
For some, morning is a lot like...bumper bowling. For others, it’s a cottony cave crawled through toward coffee. Whatever the case, when we offer ourselves that precious and occasional gift of not rushing, we discover that the wash of sleep has left us clean, soft, and receptive to simple, sensual AM pleasures. Like that ray of sunlight fanned out across the kitchen floor. Like each of the items in this month’s kit...

First look - out of the box

GlobeIn Signature Handwoven Basket ($12)
The GlobeIn Signature Handwoven Basket is made using the traditional “tenate” design. Handcrafted from discarded palm leaves by indigenous Oaxacan artisans and colored using natural, water-borne paints, each basket can take up to six hours to weave. These decorative and whimsical baskets make beautiful home storage options, lending a pop of color and handcrafted warmth to children’s bedrooms, bathroom storage, kitchen countertops or as gift packaging for loved ones.

Block Print Trivet ($10)
Your trivet features block printing, a labor-intensive art form native to Rajasthan, India. First, wood blocks are painstakingly carved with ornate designs. Artisans press the wood blocks into wet dye and then apply them to fabric. The color changes throughout the process, bestowing each item with a unique hue.

Olive Wood Spatula ($10)
The beauty of this olive wood spatula may or may not steal the show from your next culinary creation! Hand-carved from olive wood by artisans in Nabeul, Tunisia. Every piece is covered with food-safe finishing oil made of mineral oil, paraffin wax, and beeswax.

Olive Wood Spreader ($7)
Hand-carved from olive wood by artisans in Nabeul, Tunisia. Every piece is covered with food-safe finishing oil made of mineral oil, paraffin wax, and beeswax.

The Argan Project Amlou Argan Almond Butter ($15)
A classic Moroccan spread (known in the country as "Amlou") is comprised of Culinary Argan Oil from Morocco, roasted crushed almonds and clover honey. Both the almonds and honey are supplied from local farms in California. Gluten-free and high in Vitamin E, Amlou combines the distinctive nutty flavor of argan oil with the sweetness of honey and the crunchy texture of almonds.

The February GlobeIn Artisan Box included five products, with a retail value of $54 US. The theme is Rise & Shine, but it feels more like a kitchen themed box. I guess they were going for a breakfast theme? Regardless, the products are fantastic. I love the olive wood spatula and spreader. The trivet/pot holder is lovely. Unfortunately this box, and all the individual products, are sold out at the GlobeIn shop. You can still get in on the GlobeIn goodness by signing up for the March box.

The theme of the March box is Memory.

Memory goes backward and forward in time. As in, “Remember that time we...” and “Don’t forget to...” Memory encapsulates our nostalgia for the past, our plans and dreams moving forward, and those pesky little to-dos that will get us there.

UPDATE:
As of March 1st, GlobeIn is increasing the cost of the Artisan Box by $5/month. They are doing this to offset increased shipping and product costs. They are also working to improve the subscription experience and are implementing, or already have implemented several changes.
