Naked Snacks is a Vancouver based subscription that sends wholesome and nutritionally balanced snacks to your door each month. Each box contains five 150g re-sealable bags of healthy, nutritionally balanced snacks like dried fruit, granola, and nut mixes.

Naked Snacks recently implemented some changes, and I was so impressed that I signed up for a 3-month subscription. The new Naked Snacks features self snack selection, more product varieties, and more snacks that meet special dietary requirements, such as nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan. The most exciting change is definitely snack selection. Before a subscriber would pick between three subscription options (Lite, High Energy, and Chef's Choice). Now, you can add your favourite snacks to your snack list, or let Naked Snacks surprise you. Click here to check out what's on the snack menu so far. More snacks will be added in the future.

 First look

Before I continue with my box review, I want to talk more about snack selection. I know this is a feature that a lot of people were waiting for. This is a small screen shot of the snack page. Browse the snack page and when you find  something  you like, select "Add to your List". The snack will appear in "Your Snack List" on the right. You can select your snacks up to 3-months in advance (I could do my January, February, and March boxes right now). I also like that you can add multiple of one type of snack - I get two bags of Okanagan Apple rings each  month. I haven't had any issue with snacks not being available or having unexpected substitutions. What I pick is what I get. The only thing I don't like is that you can't drag and drop snacks to organize the lists. Once there are five snacks added to the top order, the next snack added bumps the bottom one in the list to the top of the order for the next month. The only way to get it back to the current month's order would be to add it to the list again, which them bumps another item down to the next month's order. Drag and drop capabilities would fix that issue. Right now the only way around this is to plan your monthly boxes in reverse order, or just do one month at a time.

Here's what I picked in December:

Chipotle Lime PistachiosChipotle and lime seasoning offer-up a delightful mix of savoury and sour. Whether you prefer to open your pistachios before eating them, or pop the whole lot straight in your mouth, this little nut will have you licking your fingers and saying, “mmmmm!”. Pistachios are a true paleo food and help reduce LDL (bad) cholesterol in your body and increase the HDL (good) cholesterol. Go Pistachio!
These are for my boyfriend. I'm not a big fan of nuts.

Maui Pineapple Rings
Pineapple rings have the amazing ability to take our mind to a sandy beach in paradise. In addition to awesome powers of teleportation, these juicy fruits are packed full of incredible antioxidants. Maui Pineapple Rings are a wholesome super-snack for you and the lucky people you choose to share them with. Each delicious bite provides a healthy boost of fiber and essential nutrients to help keep your body in tip-top shape!
These are deliciously sweet.

Okanagan Apple Rings x 2
Snack time can often get messy. Our amazing apple rings are the perfectly packaged snack food with no sticky texture or badly behaved nuts involved. Apples have beneficial properties that promote respiratory function and help to reduce asthma. They're also rich in vitamin B, C and antioxidants. The pectin in these little rings of goodness also helps reduce bad cholesterol. An apple a day!
Love these so much. I still haven't found anything like them.

Sunshine Mango
Mango is our happy food. It reminds us of a childhood spent eating juicy mangoes on long summer days. This mango is 100% natural and sweetened by the sun – not an additive in sight. It features an impressive list of healthy benefits too. Mango helps level out any acid build-up in the body and clears the skin of clogged pores. One cup of sliced mangoes supplies an incredible 25 percent of your needed daily value of vitamin A!
This mango is very good, but there isn't very much in the bag.

My December Naked Snacks box included five bags of snacks, totaling 750 grams. I selected four bags of dried fruit and one bag of nuts this month. It works out to $6 per bag, which I find totally reasonable for quality fruit and nut mixes. It's even less if you pre-pay for 3, 6, or 12 month subscription. I'm enjoying the new snack selection option and the new snacks are great, especially the Okanagan Apple Rings!
