FabFitFun VIP is a US based lifestyle subscription box for women. FabFitFun is a beauty and lifestyle e-zine that is associated to E! News and Giuliana Rancic. Every 3 months, the editors of FabFitFun send out a mystery VIP box filled with their favourite products as well as must have products of the season. Yearly subscribers have the option to customize certain products in each box (usually colour or pattern selection).

This is my 6th box from FabFitFun (2 Falls, 2 Winters, 1 Summer, 1 Spring), and I always look forward to receiving this fun shoebox sized parcel full of fab items. The products are usually hit and miss for me, but they are always high quality and useful, either for myself or as gifts.

Check out all my past FabFitFun VIP reviews here.

The new product magazine is great. It includes detailed descriptions of each item as well as write ups on some of the brands and other features like beauty tips.

The Winter box was revealed online on December 7th. I avoided spoilers for a few weeks, but finally caved and read some early previews. I was excited to get my hands on this one. Boxes started shipping December 14th. I didn't receive a shipping notice until my box landed on Canadian soil and it was from Canada Post. I received the box just before Christmas, which is pretty good.

Sweet & Spark Gift Card ($40 value)
This card has a unique promo code for $40 off Sweet & Spark, a website that sells vintage jewellery. I found a couple items for $38, but everything else was at least $58, which means it will likely cost money to use this gift card. The site does offer free worldwide shipping though.

Frends The Donna Earbuds ($80)
These are a special collaboration item with FabFitFun and Frends. I have a hard time believing these are worth $80. The Frends Ella Earbuds were originally $99. Those earbuds were very elegant, had a built in 3 button mic for hands-free calls, volume, and music control, and came packaged in a very nice box. Some may recall they were included in the Summer 2014 Nina Garcia for Quarterly box, but they've since been discontinued and can be found on sale for $49.50. "The Donna" earbuds seem cheap by comparison and come in a simple pouch instead of a box. The sounds isn't terrible, but I prefer my Ella earbuds.

Juara Candlenut Body Crème ($35)
I've never heard of candlenut before now, but apparently it's a staple in Indonesia. Juara also sells a Coffee Scrub which intrigues me.

FabFitFun Wine Stopper Set ($15)
This is a custom designed set for FabFitFun. It's cute, but who uses wine charms anymore?

I did have a little fun with them though... It's like a Wine Charm day at the gym.

Shoptiques Gift Card ($25 value)
I've never heard of this site until now, and it sounds very interesting:
Wish you could take a peek in a boutique across the world? Now you can! Shoptiques is an online destination allowing you to shop the world’s best boutiques. With more than 2,000 stores from all over the world, savvy shoppers will be spoiled with one-of-a-kind merchandise you can’t find anywhere else. And we’re kicking off your shopping habit with a gift card.
It's all pretty high end so, unfortunately you can't get much (or anything) for $25, so out of pocket spending is required to use this one. Even a 1.5oz travel tin candle costs $68! They do ship to Canada though and it's free with purchases over $125 (and free returns!) and all prices include import duties.
*Update - I found some socks for $20 a pair! Here, here, here, and here.

EJH Brand Diffuser in Lavender ($38)
EJH sells candles and artwork but I didn't see any reed diffusers on their site. I wonder if this is another exclusive collaboration. I'm not a huge fan of lavender, but this oil blend is subtle and non-offensive. I read that many people had trouble getting the plastic stopper out of the glass bottle. I just used the edge of a butter knife and pried it off. Most reed diffusers come with a stubborn stopper like this.

Dermalogica Travel Set ($45)
This kit includes travel size versions of Dermalogica soap-free foaming cleansing gel, multi-active toner, and a medium-weight moisturizer. It's a good way for those new to the brand to sample what Dermalogica has to offer. I'm still using the Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster that came in the Fall 2014 box.

Zoya Nail Polish ($9)
This is a lovely berry-toned hue that is perfect for the holiday season. I'm a fan of Zoya polish so this is good.

Whitney Eve x FabFitFun Fingerless Gloves ($26)
I love these gloves, They are super cute and look great. Problem is, they are thinner than I thought and it's too darn cold to have bare fingers (and I live in the very mild part of Canada). I use tech gloves so I can text while keeping warm, so the fingerless thing doesn't have much appeal. If these were mittens (and lined) it would be so much better. I will have to save them for early Spring when it's not freezing outside.

This is how they look on. I'm glad I received grey. The other option was black.

The Winter 2015 FabFitFun VIP box included seven items and two gift cards. The retail value of the tangible items is listed as $248 US. With the gift cards, the value is $353 US. This box costs $58 US for Canadians, so the value is great, even if some prices are over inflated. I like everything this month, except the earbuds. They are terrible. The gift cards are kind of useless and but I've come to expect them in FabFitFun. Everything will be put to use or gifted, so I see it as a successful season.

If this box interests you, it's still available. Even better, you can score $5 off using promo code NEW5 at checkout. The code is valid on new subscriptions only, while supplies last.

  1. This box just didn't do it for me! I think the first couple were great, but not so much after that! I actually un-subbed, but would be tempted if I saw some good Spring spoilers!

  2. I loved this box. I'm in the cold part of Canada and find the gloves great for driving. When you want your fingers free but the wheel is too darn cold to touch! :)

  3. I just got my first bx spring 2016 and i am never getting a box again!! They should consider canadian buyers more because they are offering their box to be delivered in canada. They shouldnt put gift cards like sterlingforever and 31bits which requires canadians to spend more money.

    1. The gift cards are a very small portion of the overall value. I don't typically include them in the valuation at all because I don't use them. It's a shame that you are opting out based on gift cards. The products and curation is always great. I loved the Spring 2016 box.
