Ellebox Co. is a new Canadian "time of the month" subscription box that sends everything you need to survive your monthly cycle. Ellebox Co. aims to revolutionize your period by ensuring you receive a box in time, for your time, every time. There are a range of subscription options to choose from, with several price points. Shipping is an additional $5 per box and all prices are in Canadian dollars.
  • The Comfort Box offers your choice or tampons and/or pads, chocolate, tea, and two self care gifts. It starts at $33.40 per month. Alternatively, the Organic Comfort Box starts at $36.40 per month.
  • The Necessities Box offers your choice of tampons and/or pads, as well as chocolate and tea. It starts at $12 per month. There is also an Organic Necessities Box starting at $17 per month.

All boxes come with up to 25 feminine hygiene products. You specify the number of pads versus tampons, then choose your preferred size and brand. With the non-organic box, Tampax Pearl, Playtex Sport, U by Kotex, and Playtex Gentle Glide are available.

I reviewed Ellebox in early November, after they were featured in the local Vancouver newspaper. Over Black Friday weekend, Ellebox ran a great promo offering the 2nd month free with the purchase of a month-to-month subscription (just pay shipping). I really enjoyed my review box, so I decided to sign up for my own subscription and try it out for a few more months.

Capilano Tea Juniper Rooibos Tea - Sample
A high floral, packed with antioxidants, our Juniper Rooibos brings back memories of berry picking and laughter in the sun. An ancient medicine and protector, Juniper connects us to teachings that ground us in gratitude for the lands that care for us.

Ghirardelli Squares Milk Chocolate with Caramel (3 squares, $2)

Scrubs & Bubbles Whipped Sugar Scrub ($9)
This fluffy whipped scrub is made with avocado oil and jojoba oil. This Cinnamon Chai scent is made "with nutmeg and Indian Chai unfolding into a heart of true cinnamon stick, finishing with a rich creamy vanilla base". It smells good enough to eat. It's made locally in Port Coquitlam, BC.

Noble is an artisan candle craftery located in Vancouver specializing in beeswax candles. They source  beeswax from within Canada to support local bee keepers.

U by Kotex Pads (12 pads, ~$4) and Tampax Pearl Regular (13 tampons, ~$4)
These are the brands and product number I requested. The options are 13 pads/12 tampons, 12 pads/13 tampons, all pads, or all tampons. After that you can select your desired absorbancy and the quantity of each you'd like to receive. Of your tampons, you can select how many are Super and how many are Regular. Same goes for the pads. You can choose Regular, With Wings, or Overnight. The customization is great. The only problem I'm found is that you can't update your preferences on your own - you have to e-mail. I'd also like to see an option for panty liners.

The December Ellebox included my monthly supplies, plus some treats and gifts to make the time more bearable. I did a rough valuation of the items I received and it's around $25, give or take a few dollars. It's a lower value than the box I reviewed in September, mostly because there are less items. The September box included two body products instead of one. It also seems like they scrimped on the chocolate this month. I need more chocolate!! It would have been nice to see one more body product or gift item added to the box to bring the value up a bit more. I'm not complaining though... since my next box only costs $5 for shipping, I average the cost paid between the number of boxes I receive. After next month, it will only be $21.70 per box instead of $38.40 per box. Value aside, I really like the products Ellebox Co. sources and features each month. They are all high quality and locally made and I am eager to see what they find for next month.
