** This company is no longer in business. **
What is it? Student Crate
How Much? Starts at $21.99 per month, plus $9.99 shipping to Canada. Save on longer plans. Prices in Canadian dollars.
What’s in it? A monthly care package of fun and practical products for college students

Student Crate is a Canadian subscription service geared for college and university students across Canada. The goal of Student Crate is to send a fun package of essentials goods that students need and can use.
Our student lifestyle experts understand the needs of students today, which is why every package contains products that are equivalent or exceed the value invested in each crate. We do our best to feature new and unique items you may not be familiar with, because trying new things is awesome!
There are several subscription levels to choose from:
  • Freshman Package: 4-5 products per month for $21.99 plus shipping
  • Sophomore Package: 6-7 products per month for $23.99 plus shipping
  • Junior Package: 6-7 products per month. Pre-paid for 4 months (1 semester). Works out to $20.99 per box.
  • Senior Package: 6-7 products per month. Pre-paid for 8 months (2 semesters). Works out to $19.99 per month.
This is a review for the Sophomore Package.

When you sign up for Student Crate you can select if the box is for a male or female student. This month's box is unisex though, so all subscribers received the same one.

Preserve Triple Razor Handle & 2 Blades ($8.50)
This easy to grip, no-slip handle is made from recycled yogurt cups. I received a Preserve toothbrush in a previous subscription and it's great.

Bomb Energy Drink ($3)
Bomb is a Canadian company that's been energizing Canadians with its tart citrus flavour since 2009. They were also on Dragon's Den!

XD Design Trio Connection Cable  (~$15)
This is a genius device that has micro USB, mini USB, and Apple 30 Pin plugs on one end, and a USB plug on the other. It would be great for on-the-go and travel as you only need one plug to charge several devices. I could have used this one my trip. It would be even better if it had an Apple Lightening plug as well (for iPhone 5 and up). It doesn't seem to be sold on the XD website anymore though.

Kewaza Energy Balls (40g, $2.99)
This is another Canadian company that produces healthy and nutritious snacks. They are available for sale at

PUR Gum in Pomegranate Mint (9 pack, $1.85)
This gum is naturally sweetened, non GMO, and vegan friendly.

Zakladkus Pause Bookmarks ($4.99)
This is a set of 5 magnetic clip bookmarks. Great idea! There's risk of losing your page.

Popcorners (32g, $2)
These white cheddar chips are air popped with real corn.

The November Student Crate box included seven products with a retail value around $38.50. It's a good mix of items that students would find useful. It's great that they included a variety of categories like snacks, personal car, and tech gadgets. I like that many of the products are from Canadian companies too.

If you are interested in trying Student Crate, you can save 15% on your first crate using promo code CDNBOXADDICT15. Code applies to Freshman or Sophomore Packages only.
