Fortune Cookie Soap Box Review - Fall 2015 - Bath & Body Subscription Box

This box was provided complimentary for review.

What is it? Fortune Cookie Soap Box
How much? $19.99 per quarter, plus $8 shipping to Canada (US$)
What's in it? 8 mini size bath & body products from an upcoming collection. Ships 4 times per year.

Fortune Cookie Soap is a company that produces handcrafted bath and body products. FCS has a major product launch four times per year, so each season FCS puts together a limited edition box containing 8 mini-size products from the upcoming collection. The Soap Box ships approximately two weeks prior to the launch, giving subscribers an opportunity to try out the new fragrances and formulas, before committing to full size versions. The box also includes a $10 gift code, which can be used on the FCS website to purchase your favourite items.

The theme for the Fall 2015 box is "Old Hollywood".

The box is filled with eight mini products from the upcoming "Old Hollywood" collection.

The product card lists each item, along with a whimsical description of their scent profiles.

OCD Hand Sanitizer - Glitz & Glamour
This hand sanitizer, made with 62% ethyl alcohol, smells of wet moss, polished woods, and creamy vanilla. I'm still using the one I received from the last FCS box. It's handy for on the go.

Perfume Oil - Pearls & Girls
What a great little atomizer this is! Way better than the spray bottle I received last time. The scent is vanilla, jasmine, and juicy pear. I honestly like the atomizer more than the scent so I will probably dump it and reuse this with my own signature scent.

Pomade - American Royalty
Pomade is a new product for FCS. They only have one version available on their website now, marketed as Mustache Wax. They say it's good for split ends or when your hair needs a little extra shine.

Bath Powder - Scandal
This is a milk bath powder and contains dead sea salts. The card says it smells of "creaking woods, wind blown leaves, and twisted rose thorns". I got a bit of the rose scent.

Shampoo Bar - Hollywood Dreams
This one smells of apples and cinnamon. I recently bought a shampoo bar from Lush to take on a backpacking trip. I will use this mini sample before I go so I can get used to washing my hair with a bar of soap.

Whipped Cream Body Butter - Tommy Guns & Baseball Bats
I loved the last Whipped Cream Body Butter I received and used it up pretty quickly. This one smells AMAZING. The card says it's like Grandma's hot apple pie. It smells like a delicious dessert. No wonder the sticker on the box says products are not intended for human consumption.

Wax Tart - Famous
I didn't know what this was for until I looked it up on the FCS website. It's a scented wax melt for an oil warmer. I had no idea they include home items as well as body items. Very cool. This one smells of warm amber, wild orchid, white cotton, and sundried herbs.

Fortune Cookie Soap - Dressed to Kill
As always, the famous Fortune Cookie Soap is included. This one smells of mulled red wine, rich vanilla, cut apples, and a dusting of spice.  There wasn't a fortune inside this time. Instead it was just a line from an old movie.

As with last season's FCS box, I really enjoyed this box and the unboxing experience. I like that they included a new mix of products to try. The samples are small, but there is more than enough of each to get a feel for the product. I really love the theme this time around. The products all smell of rich and delicious desserts. I especially like the apple and cinnamon scents.

If handmade bath and body products interest you, it’s a great way to sample different FCS products. You also get a $10 off coupon code to use towards the purchase of full sized products. One concern would be for those with allergies or sensitive skin. While the website lists ingredients for each product, most of the sample sizes did not include an ingredients list and some of the online descriptions are vague, for example, including "Fragrances" and "Color" but not specifying which ones.

The Winter 2015 edition of the Fortune Cookie Soap Box ships in November. If you are interested, be sure to sign up soon! If any of these Old Hollywood themed products interest you, check out the Fortune Cookie Soap website after August 22nd!
