Something Snacks Review - May 2015 - Snack Subscription Box + PROMO CODE

This box was provided complimentary for review.
What is it? Something Snacks
How Much? $10 per month plus $8 shipping (US$). Save on 6 and 12 month terms.
What’s in it? 7 different snack items

Something Snacks is a snack subscription service based in the US, that is looking to expand shipping to Canada. They are running a trial program, looking for pre-orders for the June box. If they receive at least 30 Canadian pre-orders for the June box, they will make Canadian shipping official. Shipping to Canada is an additional $8 per box.

Each month Something Snacks sends a themed box which includes seven snack items. There will be “Something Familiar, Something Adventurous, and Something for Everyone”. With each box you will find at least one sweet, one salty, one international, and one healthy snack.

The May box is themed around Mother’s Day and called “Mothers Approve!”.

First Look

Kasugai Mango Gummy (50g)
This is an international snack, from Japan. This little pack contained mango flavoured gummy candies. They were pretty artificial tasting.

Home Free Gluten Free Chocolate Chip Mini Cookies
This is billed as “Something Healthy”, but I question calling cookies healthy, just because they are gluten free. They are still high in sugar and calories, which makes them a treat, not a snack.

Ulker Rulokat Wafer Rolls with Hazlenut (30g)
This is another international snack, hailing from Turkey. I love wafer cookies like this… I’m going to Turkey in the fall so I will have to see if I can find more.

Righteously Raw Certified Organic Chocolate Brownie Mouthful (18g)
You know what’s a mouthful? The name of this product! It’s the “featured snack” this month. It’s organic, raw, vegan, non-gmo, gluten free, kosher, and contains no refined sugars. One might think that means it’s taste free too, but nope, it’s delicious. It also didn’t look like a brownie – more like a truffle. The outer chocolate shell was hard and the inside was soft and chewy.

Be-Bop Lemon Almond Biscotti (54g)
This is the “Something Sweet”, but I found only the lemon coating was sweet. The biscotti cookie was pretty subtle and nice with a cup of honey lemon tea.

Sensible Portions Veggie Chips in Sea Salt (28g)
This is obviously the salty snack. Veggie chips and straws have never been my favourite salty indulgence, but they’re not terrible.

Food Should Taste Good Cheddar Tortilla Chips (42g)
This one is for cheese lovers. They’re made with brown rice, flax, and corn. They are pretty tasty too. No salsa required.

The May Mother’s Day themed box from Something Snacks included seven great snack products. It's hard to put a value on this box, but I'm pretty sure it's worth the $10 subscription cost. I like that they include a bit of everything, from salty to sweet, and familiar to foreign. It's a great concept and the box is sure to include something for everyone in your household.

If you are interested in trying Something Snacks, you can save $3 off your first box by using promo code TRY3NOW. The June box is themed around Father's Day and will include a selection of "manly treats". I hope that means some beef jerky! If you sign up in the current month, you will receive that month's box, unless the website says it's sold out, in which case you will receive next month's box. It's only June 1st so there is still time to order the June box.
