surprise luxury beauty products packaged in a glossy pink gift box

Glossybox is a deluxe beauty sampling program, operating in more than a dozen countries worldwide. They consider themselves the "leading purveyor of luxury beauty samples on a global stage". Glossybox US started shipping to Canada in November 2014. Products in your Glossybox are selected based on your beauty profile, age, location, and sign-up date.

Glossybox has some of the best packaging in the business, but the contents always come off centre like this. How the heck does that happen?

According to the May 2015 Glossybox page, there were 23 different products sent out in the May boxes. I mentioned last month that Glossybox changed their subscription model a bit, and instead of sending the same products to all subscribers, they started sending variations. At first there were only slight variations, with 10 or so products featured and each subscriber receiving 5 of them. In December the only variation was nail polish colour. The January box had 7 options and February had 13. Then in March there were 26 products available, April had 20, and now May with 23. Many of the products are repeats from previous months, which leads to me believe that people who sign up late in the month will receive left overs from previous months. It's something to keep in mind when subscribing based on advance preview blogger reviews - you may not receive the same version featured in the review.

I occasionally receive a "blogger review box", but I also have my own subscription. This month, both boxes arrived on the same day (May 22nd) and the contents were identical.

Sebastian Professional Stylbrid 9 Multi-Benefit Hairspray (1.55oz, $4.99)
From heat protection to adding volume and texture, this new multi-benefit hairspray from Sebastian packs a punch. Paraben and alcohol free, the lightweight styler and treatment hybrid also offers curl definition, UV protection and enhances natural shine.
I don't use hairspray but my mom has been using Sebastian for years. She will like this deluxe travel size version.

GLAMGLOW Powermud Dualcleanse Treatment (0.5oz, $20.30)
Revolutionize your cleansing routine with this unique “mud to oil” treatment, which deep cleans pores and refines skin texture. Designed for any skin type, this features a custom clay blend designed to provide gentle skin detoxification, as well as astringents and exfoliators that leave skin squeaky clean.
I might be the only person that isn't head over heels for GLAMGLOW. I haven't tried this "dualcleanse" treatment yet, so maybe it will change my mind.

Doucce Mineral Matt Lipstick #907 (full size, $20)
The New York-based color brand introduces this uniquely textured, soft-touch lipstick, which leaves behind a rich, velvet matte finish. Infused with SPF 10 and Vitamin E, the pretty pink shade will keep lips hydrated all day, and won’t feather or fade away.
This is a lovely, subtle colour, but I don't wear lipstick.

Teeze Trend Cosmetics Head Over Heals Top Coat (full size, $14)
We get a spring in our step from the Dutch beauty brand’s adorably packaged top coat. Promising a super smooth application, it will seal any manicure with a high-gloss finish.
The product card in this box says I should have received a nail lacquer, not a top coat. My other box specifies top coat, and I did receive it in that box, so now I have two. These are shaped like Julep polishes so I'm wondering if the Julep Plie wand will fit on top (and I think it will!).

Clearista Retexturizing Gel (0.5oz, $10)
This unique complexion-perfecting gel not only smooths skin and refines pores, but also reduces pigmentation and skin imperfections, including rough skin bumps and rough, dry patches.
This is a new brand to me and I'm really interested in trying this product. A full-size is 4oz for $79.99!

My May Glossybox included five products with an approximate retail value just over $69. Glossybox costs $26 per month, with shipping. It's a great value this month, with many high value samples. This month included a good mix of items, with haircare, skincare, nail care, and makeup. I'm not sure how other variations stack up to my box, but I'm happy with what I received.

May Glossyboxes are sold out, so if you sign up in May, your first box will be the "Classic Glossybox". The Classic box includes products from past boxes. If that doesn't appeal to you, wait until June 1st to order and you will receive the June box. I will update this post when the June promo code and "Gift with Purchase" promo are released.

    1. I've read that Glossybox is going a bit downhill recently. That's a shame to hear. I haven't been subscribed since June 2016.
