The theme for May is "Bake". You can learn more about the theme and the products here.

We've assembled some goodies for a delightful day in the kitchen. This box gives you the ingredients to make your life that much sweeter.
Each month the products come packed inside a hand woven palm leaf basket from Mexico. The retail of the basket alone is $12, so we're always off to a good start.

Once unboxed, this is the true "first look"!

Forget the sponges that wimp out after two weeks because these handknit Toockies will do your dirty work month after month. 100% organic cotton and jute, Toockies provide a great alternative to disposable housewares and can last for years. If they ever tire, throw them in the washer and dryer - they’ll come out sparkling new!
My grandmother crochets dish cloths and they are my favourite. I’m thrilled to get some new ones!

Known to the people of the Philippines as Islang Asukal, this traditional cane sugar is equipped with a range of rich flavors and completely untouched by the modern refining process. Organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, carbon neutral, and sustainably sourced, this sugar will give your cookies the perfect edge of deliciousness! This sugar is limitless in its uses: sprinkle on your yogurt, ice cream, latte, or even in your salad.
I only use unrefined sugar, so this is great to have for my occasional adventures in baking.

Organic, Fair Trade, and completely scrumptious, these brownies will be your favorite part of the dinner party. Cacao beans are considered extra-healthy when minimally processed. Rich in antioxidants, flavonoids and catechins, cacao has been listed as one of the top five brain health foods, showing promising effects in cognition and mood enhancement.
This is the product that brings the bake theme together. I can’t wait to make a batch and try them out!

Coconut oil provides a tasty alternative to butter in cooking, baking, and dozens of other uses. It’s organic, cold-pressed, unrefined, vegetarian certified and has been used for centuries by the indigenous people of the South Pacific. Lauric acid, a medium chain triglyceride, comprises one of the main ingredients in coconut oil; it helps the body absorb important nutrients and minerals, eliminates harmful bacteria and keeps you looking young.
There are SO MANY uses for coconut oil, but I just like cooking with it. These packets are great for travel and camping. Kelapo is the brand I normally buy (it's often at Home Sense/Winners for cheap!) so I'm happy with these.

Your birthday cake will be so much better by blowing out your wishes on these beeswax candles! These candles are locally sourced, biodegradable, compostable and don’t undergo any chemical processing. Even better than that, burning these candles produces negative ions (charged molecules) that will boost your level of energy and reduce stress.
Birthday candles are something I never seem to have on hand when I need them. I'm happy to have a green alternative to traditional ones... I actually didn't realize such a thing existed.

The May “Bake” themed GlobeIn Gift Box featured six products with a retail value of $60.45 US. This box costs $47 US for Canadian subscribers, so it's a fair value for the money. May's box is another well curated offering from GlobeIn. There is obviously a lot of thought put into creating the theme and selecting items to fit. When it comes to curating a themed subscription box, GlobeIn is the best in the business as far as I'm concerned! I’m looking forward to what they bring for the summer months.

Does GlobeIn interest you? First time subscribers can save 25% off their first box with the purchase of a 3 or 6 month subscription. Just enter promo code WELCOME at checkout. After May 15th, or when the May box is sold out, new subscribers will get their first box in June. June spoilers will be released in a couple weeks so keep an eye out.
