Ipsy is a San Francisco based beauty subscription that sends a beautiful Glam Bag filled with with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Once you've received your Glam Bag, you can head over to the Ipsy Community to watch tutorial videos and play along with the Ipsy stylists, using the same products they are using.

The theme for March is Floral Fantasy:
Wake up your imagination with a crazy beautiful explosion of flowers. Vivid shades and inviting textures collide this March. Let the blooms begin.
pūr~lisse - pūr~delicate gentle soymilk cleanser & makeup remover (1oz, $6.43)
This gentle cleanser leaves your face silky soft, without a trace of impurity. The 4-in-1 sulfate free & non-drying formula gently washes away dirt and makeup (even mascara!), while soothing and toning skin.I enjoyed all the pūr~lisse sunscreens I received last year in various subscription boxes, and face wash is always good to have on hand. I just  hope this product doesn't because the beauty-box-sample-of-the-moment and pop up in every box.

NYX Butter Lipstick in Hunk (full size, $6)
Pamper your lips with a hydrating kiss of smooth Butter Lipstick in 22 luxurious shades. The delicate texture of satin fused with the high color saturation creates an even finish on lips that’s long-wearing and beautiful.Hunk is described as "blue violet" and boy is it ever vivid like Ipsy promised. I would never in a million years wear a shade like this.

Dr. Brandt Skincare Pores No More Anti-Aging Mattifying Lotion (7.5g, $9)
This oil-free, lightweight lotion is formulated with apple stem cells to help delay the natural signs of aging by maintaining the longevity and activity of stem cells in the skin. Simultaneously, retinol stimulates new cell turnover and improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. This is a good sample but it's tiny - only a quarter of an ounce in the tube. I enjoyed the Dr. Brandt exfoliant I received in a previous Ipsy mailing so I'm happy with this.

Add a beautiful wash of color and subtle, sexy shimmer with the ILLUMINATING FACE HIGHLIGHTER. Created to be worn on top of fresh, dewy skin or as a delicate highlight over pretty blush. This is a sample size. I have no idea what the weight is of a full size version, so I'm estimating the value. I already have Benefit's Dandelion highlighter so this will be passed on.

Boo-Boo Cover-Up in Medium (4ml, $10)
Have a Boo-Boo? Skip the bandage and the shiny ointment. Look your best even while you heal with Boo-Boo Cover-Up for face and body. Our innovative formula offers great coverage for skin imperfections while containing ingredients known in nature to promote healing. This product makes me question the "Ipsy Match" system. I am fair skinned, as my profile says, but I received this product in medium, as did many other fair-skinned Ipsters. I'd love to try it, but I can tell it's way too dark.

My March Ipsy bag included five products with an approximate retail value over $36 US. This bag costs $14.95 US per month, with shipping and for the month of March, that worked out to $19.17 CDN. I'm not really thrilled with the box this month. Only one product is full size and two of the product aren't my colour. The lotion and cleanser and okay but not very exciting. I'm still on the fence about cancelling Ipsy. Some months they knock it out of the park and other months they strike out completely. The month I cancel will be the month they hit a homer and I don't want to miss it, so for now, I'm sticking around.

What did you receive in your Ipsy bag this month?

  1. I've always enjoyed seeing the contents of each ipsy bag but I've never subscribed to them myself. This month's bag looks good but I can see why it wasn't too exciting for you.

  2. I have not been impressed with ipsy these past couple of months too. I subscribed for a year but probably won't renew if the bags don't improve in the next few months.

  3. Just cancelled my subscription. With the exchange rate as it is, I just wasn't enjoying ipsy enough to continue subscribing. No thank you, purple lipstick and too-dark concealer.

  4. I also received the concealer and purple lip stick. I wasn't happy at first but after trying the lipstick toned down with a little bit of a pink gloss i found i adored the colour. Very surprising. The concealer actually worked for me and I am fairly light skinned as well.
