Dottiebox Review - April 2015 - Handmade Gift Subscription Box

** This subscription is no longer in business.**

What is it? Dottiebox
How Much? $20 per month plus $12 shipping to Canada (US$)
What’s in it? A box of high quality handmade items for women

Dottiebox is a unique subscription service that sends a curated box of high quality handmade items for women. Categories featured include home items, beauty & hair, bath products, candles, nail products, jewellery, edible items, Eco-friendly items, and more. There is also a Dottiebox Mini that offers fewer items for $10 per month plus $9 shipping. Month-to-month and 3-month pre-paid subscriptions are available, as well as one-time-purchase boxes. I wanted to try this service out, so I purchased a one-off April box (without subscription). Dottiebox accepts credit cards and Paypal for payment.

Dottiebox team members pack and wrap each box. The attention to detail really showed. Some of the smaller items were tucked into the blue and white kraft bag and tied with twine and it looked great. I need to steal that idea for party gift bags.

Poppy & Elle Ribbon Hair Tie ($1.50)
Poppy and Elle sells elastic solid, print, glitter, and tie dye hair ties that can also be worn as bracelets. With a wider band and more style than your average elastic, these hair ties won't leave dents or damage hair.

Pennie Post Farmer's Market Watercolor Card Set ($8)
Pennie Post is a monthly subscription service that sends stationery goodies. I didn't realize that they ship to Canada as well. I think I'm going to take advantage of the promo code and give it a try. These postcards are bright and fun.

Jen Ramey Designs Wine Charms ($6)
These are fun! Each charm is handmade from polymer clay, hand stamped, and hand painted.

Philly Loves Lacquer Nail Polish in Siren Call ($12)
This nail polish is 5-free, vegan, and made & mixed in Philadelphia, the City of Brotherly Love.

Studio 336 "Be Brave" Decal ($4.50)
This decal can be placed on a laptop cover, mirror, window, or anywhere else you feel like seeing some inspiration. I might put it on my bedroom mirror.

The April Dottiebox included five items, with a retail value of $32 US. I paid $20, plus $12 shipping for this box, so I got exactly what I paid, which is great. Boxes like this aren't about value; they're about discovering new and unique products from independent artisans. It's a great concept and April turned out to be a fun and interesting box.

  2. Some cute things. The best thing in here is probably that nail polish for me.
