Treatsbox is a Canadian candy subscription service based in Manitoba. Every month, Treatsbox sends a box filled with delicious goodies, candies, and snacks. The goal of Treatsbox is to "introduce you to that sweet surprise that you may not have found on your own or re-unite you with that old candy from the past that you haven’t had since you were a kid".
Each month you will get a variety of quality confectionery from well known candy suppliers and manufacturers. We do not send bulk wrapped candy. We never send knock-off products. We have product specialists who are experienced distributors and suppliers to ensure that everything we put in the box is good quality.
Upon opening the box, I discovered a t-shirt. I guess it's a bonus item. I didn't see anything about it on the website. This will make a good sleep shirt. (~$10 value)

Under the shirt, I found a well wrapped package. No product card though.

First look - Yippee!

Milk Chocolate Pop Rocks ($1)
The best of all candy worlds has collided.... Pop Rocks nuggets fused with chocolate! Milk chocolate covered popping candy nuggets will surprise and delight.

Warheads Sour Chewy Cubes (2 x $0.35)
Magical chewy cubes flavored with just the right amount of sour.... not too sour... not too sweet! Each packet contains 7 to 8 pieces.

Wonka Sweetarts Candy Ropes ($1)
That amazing Willy Wonka has concocted another genius confection with these chewy licorice ropes. Previously known as Kazoozles, they're packed with delickoricious punch filling! Their name may be different, but their irresistible flavor is just the same!

Cadbury Chomp ($0.30)
Cadbury Chomp is a delicious caramel treat wrapped in Cadbury milk chocolate.

Kinnerton Milk Chocolate Lollipops (2 x $0.82)
A delicious Milk Chocolate Lolly treat. Great value!

WOM Strux Build & Bite ($1)
These are so cool. Candy building blocks! I'd rather play with them than eat them.

Crayola Dipper ($0.65)
Add a little color to your world! Lick and dip the hard candy "paint brush," and then use it to paint your tongue. Each fruity dipping powder turns your tongue a different color!
I noticed after trying this one that the expiry date on the back had a sticker covering it...

The best before date was January 2015. It was purposely concealed with a sticker. Not cool.

Sour Gecko (2 x $0.39)
Forget those gross gila monsters or icky iguana creatures...the gecko is the tastiest lizard in the candy jungle!

Sponge Toffee Brick ($1)
Also known as Sea Foam or Honeycomb Toffee. An old-fashion treat primarily made with Sugar, it has a light, ridge, sponge- like texture and melt in your mouth taste.

Chiclets 12pc Box ($0.45)

Licorice Pipe  ($0.79)
The fireplace is crackling with glowing embers. You're wearing a comfy smoking jacket and relaxing in the leather chair of your cherry wood library room with a snifter of fine brandy and these delicious licorice pipes! Oh so perfect.

WOM Kiss Pop ($1.85)
It's like a ring pop, but lips instead of a ring.

Double Bubble Fizzers (4 x $0.10)
Bite down into one of these delightful soda flavored bubblegum spheres to find that they actually fizz on your tongue, as though you had just taken a big gulp of pop! Inside each chewy and colorful outer gumball hides a fantastically fizzy, tangy candy powder interior! It’s an exciting new way to experience bubble gum and the soda fountain all in one.

My March Treatsbox contained 19 candy items, plus a t-shirt. The approximate value of the candy items is only around $12 US ($15.25 CDN). Some items are valued based on wholesale pricing, so even if I add 50% markup, it only brings the value to $18 US (~$22 CDN). I guess I'm supposed to add the t-shirt value so it comes closer to the $30 promise, but what is a t-shirt doing in a candy box? It's a pretty disappointing offering. The Chomp is my favourite item in the box and I wish there was more chocolate! My boyfriend and I enjoyed building with the Strux, even more than eating them. While I enjoyed some of the treats and the initial experience was fun, I'm not happy that one item was expired and it was covered up, and I'm not happy that this box is worth less than I paid and less than they promised.

If you are interested in trying Treatsbox, you can save 50% on the first month of a 3-month subscription using promo code 50bunnies. The April box ships April 1st to arrive in time for Easter.

  1. Aw man, I was hoping this would be a better value than project candy box, whose first box was great but the second box I got from them was kind of weak. Sigh. Thanks for the honest review!

  2. I've had the same experiences with Treatsbox. Tried the Christmas box with a coupon and it was really disappointing - no new or special products, lots of tiny little candies with very little value, and some that seemed stale. January's was worse - one of the most valuable items was a package of Halls cough drops. No shirts in either of them. It's really disappointing because there's so much potential there, but I won't pay $30 for a box of tiny candies that I can get at the Bulk Barn for $10.

  3. Yummy things in here but too bad the value just wasn't there especially at the price you paid for it.

    1. If the price point was around $15-20 it would be better.

  4. Awe I got so excited when I started reading this and the novelty wore off as I continued :( I'm on a mission to find a GOOD Canadian treat box.... still no luck!

  5. Wow, really lame of them to cover up the expiration date! My experience has been some items are close to the best before date but for them to purposefully cover it up?! I'd unsubscribe ....

    1. Well, I don't know if it was Treatsbox or the supplier. Either way, it's not good. I unsubscribed before receiving the box. I purchased one month for review only.

  6. I had the same experience with the December box. I ordered one as a gift and it was underwhelming. I was really embarrassed.
