surprise luxury beauty products packaged in a glossy pink gift box

Glossybox is a deluxe beauty sampling program, operating in more than a dozen countries worldwide. They consider themselves the "leading purveyor of luxury beauty samples on a global stage".  Glossybox US started shipping to Canada in November 2014.

I posted about the March Sneak Peeks last week, and now it's time to review the entire box. Glossybox provided this advance box for review purposes. I also subscribe to Glossybox, and can expect my paid box to arrive towards the end of the month.

No joking - this is how my box looked when I opened it up. It looks like they were in a bit of a rush to get the advance boxes out.

Product card!

First look - a little haphazard but I'm not sure if that's because it was packed that way or if it got tossed around during shipping.

Ouidad Color Preserving Shampoo (2.5oz, $10) and Ouidad Color Preserving Conditioner (2.5oz, $10)
If winter has left your hair feeling dry, give it some tender lovin’ care. This nutritive blend of apricot oil and honey infuses antioxidants and protects color from fading. Use the shampoo to remove daily mineral deposits, and the conditioner to protect against dehydration for healthy-looking, radiant hair.
This was a spoiler product and most subscribers will receive Ouidad haircare products. Something the product doesn't say is that Ouidad's motto is "The Curl Experts" and all their products are designed for curly haired girls. Shampoo is shampoo though and both of these products smell great. The bottles are very generous travel sizes, so I'm happy with them.

ModelCo More Brows Thickening Gel in Medium/Dark (3.5ml full size, $18)
Achieve natural-looking, fuller brows instantly with ModelCo's MORE BROWS. MORE BROWS is a quick-dry gel formula that contains hair-like particles to create the appearance of fuller, more even eyebrows in one application.
This is a pretty small full-size product... it looks more like a deluxe sample. I recently started using a brow gel more regularly, since I have reddish-blonde barely there brows. Unfortunately the medium/dark shade will be too dark for my needs.

So Susan Cosmetics Concealer Quad (4g/0.14oz full size, $25.79)
A compact of 4 concealer shades that cover dark shades, blemishes and minor imperfections. The texture blends seamlessly into the skin to create a flawless complexion. Formulated with virgin Marula oil.
The product card says this is worth $30.95, but So Susan sells it for $25.79 (in a box too!). It's sealed, but the paper dust from the black paper packing crinkles somehow "leaked" into the compact, so there are very fine black speckles all over the top of the concealer. I'm sure the product is still fine, but it's kind of off-putting. Some sites wondered if this was a full size, and according to the product card and volume listed on the back (0.14oz), it is.

Orogold Cosmetics 24K Multi-Vitamin Day Moisturizer (2 x 0.1oz samples, $21)
This magnificent 24K Multi-Vitamin Day Moisturizer is enriched with vitamins E (Tocopheryl Acetate), A (Retinyl Palmitate), C (Ascorbic Acid, Calcium Ascorbate), B (Thiamine), Pro-B5 (Panthenol), antioxidants and pure 24 karat gold. Achieve a healthy looking glow while reducing the signs of aging. Drench your skin with our moisturizer for the ultimate hydration.
There is no volume listed on these sample sizes, but I estimate it's just over half a teaspoon, so about 0.1oz each. A full size is 1.7oz for $178! Everyone will receive two little sample jars.

Bellapierre Cheek and Lip Stain in Pink (5g full size, $19.99)
Unlike traditional stains that are hard to apply, this oil-free Cheek and Lip Stain will finish off any look with great ease and is super blend-able. Available in Pink or Coral.
I've received this product twice before so it's not very exciting. I associate Bellapierre with Beauty Box 5, since I received so many of their products through BB5. I'm not thrilled to see this in Glossybox.

Caseable Coupon Code
Be sure to check the bottom of your product card. Each one includes a unique promo code for Caseable, a site that allows you to design custom cases for all your personal electronic devices. The code is worth $5-$100 and can be redeemed at checkout. Mine was worth $5. To find out how much yours is worth, add something (anything) to your cart, and enter the promo code. Since this is a discount code and not a gift certificate, I don't include it when I add up the box value.

The March Glossybox includes six products, valued at $104.78. The three cosmetics products are full size, and the two hair care products are deluxe travel size. Only the skincare products are sample size. It's an amazing value for Glossybox, but still, it just doesn't wow me. I will use the shampoo, conditioner, and face cream, but that's about it. Despite my misgivings, I still think it's a decent box. While it's not the perfect box for me, it may be the perfect box for someone else. The curation is well rounded with a bit of everything. There's skincare, haircare, and cosmetics. The majority of the items are full size or deluxe travel size.

If you are interested in trying Glossybox there are still some promo codes available.
  • Save 20% off ANY subscription length using promo code OPRAH. This one was supposed to expire March 3, but I was alerted by reader Claire (a Canadian in Afghanistan!) that the code still worked as of March 6th. I tried it again today and it still works.
  • If OPRAH doesn't work by the time you subscribe, try code MARCHGB15 to save 15% off your first month. This one is supposed to expire March 15th.
  • If you'd rather a free gift instead of a discount, use promo code OCCSMOTE to get a free Loose Colour Concentrate from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (retail value $14 US).

All codes apply to new subscribers only. Also keep in mind, if you subscribe in March, you will receive this March box. If this box doesn't interest you, wait until April 1st to subscribe (although there is no guarantee any of these codes will work by then).
