Topbox Review - January 2015 - Canadian Beauty Subscription Box

What is it? Topbox
How Much? $12 per month plus tax, shipping included
What’s in it?  4 deluxe beauty samples

Topbox is a Canadian subscription service that sends four deluxe samples from top beauty brands each month. Topbox is the premiere monthly beauty subscription box in Canada and at only $12 per month, it's a great intro box for those interested in what the beauty box craze is all about.

My January Topbox actually arrived January 20th, but when I opened up the bubble mailer, this is what I found:

On the plus side, it smelled very nice.

A cheek stain product (I have no idea what brand) exploded or was crushed during transit andn leaked out all over everything. Every item was completely soaked and saturated with pink. See that mess to the right in the picture? That's my product card. It glued itself to the back of the blue package and came off in pieces. It was a huge mess and took me quite a while to get the pink stain off my fingers! I e-mailed Topbox and included photos. They replied within an hour advising a new box was on its way and included a tracking code.

My new box arrived January 26th. It included three of the same products as the first box, and instead of the dreaded stain, I received something new. No product card this time, so I'm going to wing it.

Eyeko Mascara Off Eye Makeup Remover Wipes (10 wipes, $9)
These are shit for removing cheek stain, but work pretty good on eye makeup. They include aloe vera and olive oil to soothe, grapefruit extract to refresh, and allanation to reduce puffiness. Formulated without parabens, sulphates, and phthalates.

Elizabeth Arden FLAWLESS FUTURE Powered by Ceramide Moisture Cream Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 30 (7ml, $8.40)
This lightweight daily moisture cream hydrates and immediately brightens skin, as it helps smooth the look of pores and minimize the appearance of discolorations like those caused by blemishes. Skin looks smooth and supple more even toned, revitalized and luminous.

Lise Watier Lift & Firm 3D Duo Serum (6ml, $11.70)
1 product. 2 serums. 24 hours program. Lift and Firm 3D Duo Serum 24 Hrs is the first program with two specific formulas, day and night, that work in perfect synergy to sculpt facial contours. Day formula: Instant lifting forms an invisible mesh on the skin's surface for a visibly firmer appearance throughout the day. Night formula: Lasting firmness regenerates all night long to visibly firm the skin.

So Susan Dual Brow Powder (4g full size, $14.96)
Create perfectly-defined brows with this smudge-proof dual-shade compact. The medium coverage enables you to glide the product on gently, using short light strokes to fill in sparse brows for a completely natural look.
I didn't open this because I wasn't sure if I would be keeping it. After finding a photo online (here), this is definitely not for me. I have red hair and barely there brows. This brow compact is far too dark for my needs. This is a new product for So Susan and it was launched in July 2014.

My January 2015 Topbox contained four items, with an approximate retail value over $44 CDN. I paid $13.44 CDN for this box, so the value is great! I received two full size products and  two deluxe samples. I've already been using the Lise Watier serums, and I can't say they are doing anything for me, but time will tell! The EA moisturizer is good for me because I go through loads of sunscreen. Anything with SPF is always a win for me. The wipes are handy for travel so they are great for me as well. The only miss this month is the brow kit. It's a great product, just not my shades. One thing of note about Topbox, is that they tend to include more skincare and anti-aging samples than cosmetics samples. If skincare and anti-aging are what you are looking for, Topbox may be a good fit. They bill in Canadian dollars and ship from within Canada.

If Topbox seems like it might interest you, click here to sign up. There is a wait list though!

  1. That's one thing I have to say about TopBox. Their customer service is awesome! I'm still glad I cancelled though. It's the same brands over and over.

  3. Weirdly I got the Lise waiter serum, but in a giant bottle like the travel ones you buy at sephora. And it has a homemade label.
