What’s in it? Three fragrance miniatures, tailored to your preferences

Scent Trunk is a new Canadian fragrance subscription service for men.  Each "trunk" contains three 2-3ml fragrance miniatures, which Scent Trunk says will last the entire month. The box also includes fragrance notes on each sample, as well as helpful tips.
Scent Trunk is about helping men experience more. Even though we use our sense of vision the most, our sense of smell is actually the most sensitive. People can remember smells with more accuracy than visuals! Our sense of smell is most strongly linked to our emotions. It only made sense to us, that fragrance should be a Scent Trunk Man’s constant reminder to be better, to experience more, and to seize the moment.
Scent Trunk takes the guesswork out of selecting fragrances for men. You fill out a personalized Scent Profile quiz, and Scent Trunk selected samples tailored just for you and sends them to your door. When you find one you love, head to their shoppe and buy a full size version.

The fragrances are tucked inside a small velvet pouch and are packed in a small black box. Also included was a sheet with fragrance notes on each scent, as well as a "Trunk Tips" card. This month's tip is on overcoming procrastination. I'm not sure what life tips have to do with fragrance sampling, but it's an interesting and unique feature.

Costume National Scent Intense (1.5ml)
An intense fragrance enhanced by the harmony of amber and woods. Scent Intense expresses the mystery and radiance of a timeless energy.

Ineke Perfumer Chemical Bonding (1.5ml)
A playfully juxtaposing Chemistry 101 principles with human attraction, this scent combines a bright citrus opening with a powdery soft base, resulting in a flirtatious alchemy.

Rance 1796 Le Roi Empereur (1.6ml)
Leather exalts the masculine character, while cedar and musk give intensity and persistence of the fragrance.

The February Scent Trunk contained three samples with 4.6 ml of fragrance total. All three are brands are new to me and my boyfriend, which is great for discovery. Since this box was provided complimentary, I wasn't able to complete a Scent Profile. I only liked one of the three (Le Roi Empereur) and my boyfriend didn't really enjoy any of them. I found the first two were too fruity smelling for men's cologne. That's the point of sampling though - try before you buy. I do have a concern about the value of this service. Fragrance samples like this are routinely given out for free and are easy to get from Sephora, Shopper's Drug Mart, or department store cosmetics counters, so there really isn't any value in the samples themselves. The value comes in the fact that the service is convenient and customized. I also wonder if there is enough to last a full month. Scent Trunk says there will be 2-3ml per sample, so 6-9ml total, but I only received 4.6ml of fragrance.

Scent Trunk seems to target the GQ crowd. They say that a Scent Trunk Man is stylish, enjoys learning and experiencing new things, works at improving himself, and is a gentleman. This would be one of those subscription boxes that you get for the man who has everything or one that really cares about style, appearance, and grooming.

If you are interested in trying Scent Trunk, you can save $5 off your first month by using promo code EARLY5 at checkout.
