Lip Monthly Review - January 2015 - Beauty Subscription Box + PROMO CODE

What is it? Lip Monthly
How Much? $10 per month, plus approximately $3 shipping & tax.
What’s in it? 4 - 5 lip products such as lip Glosses, lip Sticks, lip Balms, lip Stains and much more.

Every month, Lip Monthly helps you discover the best lip products on the market by sending you a box filled with lip products. This is a newer service, so there have been quite a few hiccups along the way, slow shipping and poor product curation being just a couple examples. My first bag last month was really underwhelming, but this have already improved a tiny bit this month.

Once again shipping was an issue. I received an e-mail update on January 8th advising my bag would be shipped the following Monday (12th). I didn't receive a shipping notice until January 15th. The bag arrived January 27th. A little better than last month, but still delayed.

Product card - Lip Monthly says there will be some "great new brands" featured in 2015.

Ofra - Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick in Laguna Beach (8g full size, $19.90)
One step full lip color that does not feather. These vibrant colors will give you a vivacious look. They are creamy and soft in texture, moisturizing the lips and creating a long lasting lipstick effect. All shades contain antioxidants and Vitamin E while the formula provides a lightweight layer of lasting color to make you feel fresh all day. Color will last in a perfect condition up to five hours without eating or drinking.
This is a little too pink for my liking.

Eco Lips - Eco Tints in Rose Quartz (full size, $4.49)
With just a hint more color than our Moonstone, this sheer rose mineral-tinted lip balm will add a touch of pink to your smile. Perfect for those times you want a subtle color along with protection and moisture.
This, I like. It's basically a tinted lip balm. Very sheer and subtle.

MicaBeauty Cosmetics - Tinted Lip Balm in Velvet Rose (7g Color Pot, $14.94)
MicaBeauty's 24 hour Tinted Lip Balm conditions your lips without smudge while delivering sophisticated finish. Infused with Vitamin E, MicaBeauty's Tinted Lip Balm helps keep your lips soft, smooth and protected. For a sheer wash of color, one swipe is all you need. Do you want even bolder pout? Simply apply another swipe and this lip balm will create lips every woman covets.
Kiss-Proof! Smudge-Proof!

On the US website I can only find Velvet Rose with the applicator cap (linked above) for $30. The Canadian website has these 7g Color Pots for $14.95, but Velvet Rose isn't an option. The product card has this listed as a Color Pot for $14.95, so I will go with that. Decent colour but hate potted lip products.

Harvey Prince Imperial Gardenia Fragrance Sample
Harvey Prince has distilled the essence of Gardenia to prove that you can be as exquisite as a flower in full bloom.  Style notes: Luminous, sensuous, feminine.
A fragrance sample in a lip bag. To me, that should be an extra, not one of the main products.

The January 2015 Lip Monthly bag included four products with an estimated value of $39.34 US. Three of the four products are full size lip items, and one is a fragrance sample. I'm happy with the lip products. They are all currently available products from recognized brands. While one or two may not be my colour preference, they are still good products and will appeal to many people. I'm bummed by the perfume sample. We only received four products this month, so to have one of them be a dinky perfume sample, it's kind of disappointing. Samples like this should be an extra, not count as one of the main items. Regardless of the perfume, this bag was much better than last month. Hopefully the trend continues.

If Lip Monthly interests you, you can get your first bag free on a 4-month subscription using code 1STFREE at checkout. That's a $10 savings.

  1. Nice bag for this month. Still find it strange that they included a perfume sample in here when its suppose to be just lip products.

  2. I think it is a better bag than last month.
I had the ofra in coral colour and I was also surprised by the perfume sample..
But these products are not so bad compared to the last month.
