What is it? Memebox
How much? $19-$39 per box - one time purchase, plus $6.99 shipping
What's in it? 4-7 full-sized Korean beauty products and deluxe samples. Contents vary from makeup, skin care, hair, and body products.

The new craze in the beauty box world is Memebox. Memebox is a Korean beauty box and e-commerce retailer. It's not a subscription service. Instead, Memebox releases limited edition boxes filled with the hottest beauty products from Korea. You can order as many as you'd like, as often as you'd like. New themed boxes are released several times a month, but quantities are limited. There are also Superboxes, which are themed boxes filled with full-size products, and Value Sets which are two Memeboxes bundled together at a discounted price.
Memebox curates only the most trusted, best-loved Korean beauty products at everyday prices. An extremely competitive industry, Korean cosmetics are renowned for their unprecedented quality developed through cutting-edge technology. At the forefront of the industry, Memebox is determined to deliver the enchantment of discovery through effortless experiences, at prices you'll never say no to.
I've seen and read so much about Memebox online, but I didn't have much interest in the world of Korean beauty products. I decided to see what all the hype is about so I ordered two boxes to review on the blog.

One box I ordered was scheduled to ship around September 19th and the second not until October 24th. I received shipping notice for the first box on September 21st, and it arrived to me in Vancouver on September 26th. The box was packaged in a Memebox printed bubble mailer, and the customs declaration had the box marked as a gift. I have read about other people having to pay tax/duty on larger orders, but I don't think it's the norm.
The first box I received is Special #36 Meme's Pouch:
Everyone has got a couple of those beauty-savvy friends that always know about the hottest new makeup trends and bizarre makeup tricks. We, however, have nearly 100 of them, and every product in this box has been tried, tested, and loved by our very own Memeboxers! From eye, skin, and lip makeup, to instant makeup refreshers for throughout the day, these beauty goodies have set up permanent camp in our Memeboxers’ makeup bag, and soon, you’ll see why!Carry these nifty makeup goodies wherever you go, and you’ll be ready to glam up, or simply touch up your look with all of Meme's favorites!Find out what our Memeboxers are loving at this moment, and get a sneak peek into the “it” trend at Memebox!
Even though the Meme's Pouch page showed a picture of products, the actual contents of Memebox is a surprise.
The box was packed full and at first glance, everything appears to be full-sized products. The product card is incredibly detailed and includes product size, retail value, description, instructions for use, and where to buy. The card confirmed that everything in this box is full-size!

Evas By Marait Eau de Perfume No. 8 It's a Fine Day (30ml, $30)
No. 8 It's a Fine Day shouts out 'good morning' with its distinctively refreshing scent that brings together the ice mandarin, magnolia, and musk notes in a fresh, citrusy harmony.
I like citrus fragrances, but this one is not for me. It's a floral citrus scent. I will be gifting or selling.

Etude House Blotting Paper Pact (50 sheets, $6)
Etude House's Blotting Paper is made from hanji, the traditional Korean paper handmade from mulberry trees, and is gentle to skin and works to maintain the skin's moisture level intact while removing any excess facial oil and sebum for keeping your skin nice and silky throughout the day.
This compact is so cool! It's blotting papers, but inside a compact, with a little buff applicator. The buff has a sticky side so the paper sticks to it. It's pretty innovative and for lady-like blotting on the go!

Evas Rose Mine  Perfumed Hand Cream (60ml, $7 sale $4)
This beautifully rose-scented must-have hand cream is concentrated in shea butter to moisturize and protect skin all day, every day. Enriched with shea butter, rose water, rose hip oil, argan oil, mango seed butter, and grapefruit extracts, this hand cream delivers instant moisture and nutrition for healthy hands and nails.
Hand cream is hand cream. Nothing exciting here.

DRWW Mix & Match Lip & Chic Set ($47 sale $17)
This all-in-one color kit features lip and cheek products that you may use alone or together to give your face a new look. Each versatile makeup shade enhances the face, making it perfect for putting your best face forward. This kit includes a lip balm, bright colored lip tint, concealer, and a mixing pot for creating your unique look.
This is a pretty cool compact and would be fun to play around with, but the colours aren't for me. This will be added to my swap/sell board

Croquis Alight Pact (10g, $35)
Three colored marble powders included in this pact give your skin more definition and a fine luster, for a nice, silky finish to your makeup.
This seems to be a colour correcting powder compact. I use one that's kind of similar so I'm curious to try this one.

Vally Sous Hair Solution Protein Therapy Perfect Mist (150ml, $22 sale $6)
Give your locks a quick pick-me-up with this lovely pheromone protein-rich hair mist designed to instantly revive and condition. Formulated with argan oil, rose hip oil, and various other natural extracts, a simple spritz offers your hair and confidence a boost with extra protein nourishment. Spritz away and your hair will be soft, healthy, and luxurious.
This spray is for damp or dry-styled hair. They suggest using it throughout the day for shiny results.

Special #36 - Meme's Pouch

Well... my first Memebox is a hit. I now see what all the fuss is about. The products are nicer and better quality than I expected and the value is amazing. The retail value of this box was $23 and I received $98 worth of product (or $147 if you don't factor sale prices). Every product in this box is full size. There are only two products I won't use - the Mix & Match compact and the perfume. Aside from the hand cream, the rest of the products seem really interesting and innovative. My next Memebox is Chocolate Mania and I'm really looking forward to that one!

Meme's Pouch is currently sold out, but there are lots of great Memeboxes still available. The Memebox Empties Superbox looks really interesting, and I'm also thinking of ordering Tea Tree Cosmetics.

  1. Yay, you're first Memebox! I really like this one. Obviously I'm hooked on Memebox! I keep saying that's it no more, but keep getting suckered in to more boxes. They're just too irresistible! They are doing everything right to get people wanting more.

    1. Since ordering the first two, I've ordered two more and am interested in ordering another two but trying to resist. I want to try the products more before I invest too much into this stuff!

  2. Awesome to see you unbox and try out your first Memebox. I've been purchasing Memeboxes for a while and love them. Its the only beauty box I'm currently purchasing and I have a ton of them unboxed on my blog. Another thing to note though, you shouldn't purchase a box based off of its picture on the site. Memebox has stated that what's in the picture doesn't necessarily mean those products will be in the box.

Your going to love the Chocolate Mania box I hope. I purchase a Cacao box a while back and really loved the contents of that box. I'm sure it will be pretty similar to that.

  3. Glad you're getting into Memebox! There are some issues with customer service but their value is unbeatable. I highly recommend getting the Global boxes as they have the most variety and value. The Mask boxes are fantastic if you like facial masks. Stay away from branded Memeboxes (Tony Moly, Holika Holika, IOPE) as they have the worst value; you can even lose money on them if you consider sale prices.

The Empties Memebox could be hit or miss because it was based off of Facebook surveys, but will *probably* contain the LJH Tea Tree Essence 90 that was a hit product, in case that sways your opinion. I think the Tea Tree box will definitely be as advertised.

    1. Thank you for the great tips! I actually ordered both the Tea Tree box and the Empties box earlier today!

  4. To answer the last question in your post, I am personally not a fan of Memebox and their Korean beauty products.

  5. I'm a huge fan of Memebox! I really do find them exceptional value and who ever is in charge of their marketing is on point! They know how to entice! I can see why Bunny might say that the branded boxes aren't as good value, but the brands are new to me and I can't possibly get 4-6 products for $23+shipping where I live. I think at that price, it's a really great way to try a variety of products from a new brand.
I'm 20+ boxes deep since June and showing no signs of slowing in my purchases!

  6. I am so addicted to Memeboxes. They're so fun, and there is so much variety. They're product cards are the best I've seen! I love that they include instructions for usage since most of the skincare products have no English on the actual packaging.
