Julep recently moved their order fulfillment center from Seattle to Ohio. They say it will make shipping quicker and more efficient since the boxes ship from the middle of the country instead of from the West coast. Seems like a good idea... except the first month operating out of Ohio was a complete disaster. The boxes shipped late - a week to several weeks late. Mine shipped August 6th and arrived August 18th. Normally it comes the first week of the month, not the third. Shipping wasn't the least of the issues. Many, many customers received incorrect orders... it's almost comical how wrong some of the orders were. Polish Jinx has a great re-cap of the whole Julep snafu.

August featured the "Wanderlust Collection", with a whole array of new polish colours, as well as Gel Eye Glider pencils. I opted for the "Happy Mani-versary" box instead of a collection box. The Happy Mani-versary box was to include some basic nail care products and a special edition 3rd anniversary nail polish.

On August 15, Julep e-mailed to say that one of the products I ordered was left out of the shipment.
Thank you so much for celebrating our anniversary month with us! We wanted to let you know we are aware the Cleanup Tool was missing from your Happy Mani-versary box. We have shipped it separately and it is on its way to you now.
Great. Delayed shipping and now a missing product. Not good so far, Julep. Thankfully, when my box finally arrived, everything else was there and correct.

Free gift - a screen cleaner as well as a notice about Julep's new app. If you download the app and login to your Maven account, you will earn some free Jules (reward points).

Product card and a 30% off coupon code. Use code JULEPPERK to get 30% off your next order from Julep. This promo code is not valid for purchases of gift cards, gift boxes, Maven subscriptions, or Mystery Boxes. It also excludes Savvy Deals and Secret Store items. Code expires September 30, 2014. I'm going to use it to buy the September gemstone polish and a few other item.

Queen Anne Polish ($14/$11.20)
Lilac confetti microglitter

Missing Item: Julep Cleanup Tool ($14/$11.20)

My August Julep box included 3 products, with a 4th on the way. I was lucky enough to experience only minimal issues this month. The estimated value of my box is $70 retail, or $56 Maven pricing (including the missing product). I opted for a core box this month because I didn't need any more polish and the Eye Gliders did not appeal to me. I'm happy with the products I chose and all will be put to use.

I did experience once additional issue which is still being addressed. Julep gave everyone bonus Jules reward points for the shipping delays. My Jules balance shows "AUG 2014: 300 Jules for Box Take + Delayed Shipping Bonus" but I only received the usual 300 points for taking the monthly box. No bonus was actually rewarded, even though it says "+ Delayed Shipping Bonus". I've seen other people receive anywhere from 400 to 2000 additional Jules for their troubles. I e-mailed Julep to see why I wasn't given bonus points as stated and have yet to hear back. I will update when they reply.

What did you think of the August Julep Maven collection? Did you experience any issues this month?

Don't forget to use code JULEPPERK to get 30% off your next order from Julep.

  1. I only received 300 as well, but had previously received 400 from last month because of the delay. Would be interested in hearing what they have to say!
    Thanks!

    1. They replied within about 48 hours and apologized for not logging the bonus Jules or sending the missing cleanup tool. She said bonus Jules were added to my account and the cleanup tool was shipped. I received an order confirm for the missing item right after. I just logged into my account and they gave me 1900 additional Jules. Such a random number but I'll take it!
