Beauty Box 5 Review - July 2014 - Beauty Subscription Box + PROMO CODE

What is it? Beauty Box 5
How Much? $12/month, $30/quarter, $99/year  plus $3 shipping per box
What's in it? 5 samples from your favourite beauty brands

Before the review, there is some BB5 subscription news to share. Beauty Box recently announced that they will no longer be offering free shipping to Canadian customers. Beginning your next billing cycle, current subscribers will be charged an additional $3 per box to cover shipping. I have a year subscription, so this change won't affect me until February of next year. Those of you that are on a month-to-month plan will see your monthly cost rise to $15. A three month subscription will now cost $39 ($13 per box) and a year subscription will be $135 ($11.25 per box). I read some complaints about this change, but I don't find it a huge deal. A shipping charge of $3 is incredibly reasonable, and BB5 remains one of the least expensive subscription boxes out there, especially if you opt for a year long subscription.

Now for the review! The July BB5 arrived on July 17th. I didn't get a shipping notice this month, so I'm not sure how long it took to ship. Lately they have been taking anywhere from 1-2 weeks. It's a huge improvement from the 3-4 weeks it took last year.

The theme for July is "Defining Moments".
"This month we want to celebrate the events that made you the amazing woman you are today! Whether these moments were milestones like graduating college and earning your first big paycheck, or small victories like learning how to gracefully walk in heels or finding the mascara you can't live without, treasure your accomplishments and be ready for the next one!"
Product card - looks promising!

Revlon Bold Lacquer Mascara in Blackest Black (full size, $7.99)
This is a new mascara with "high-shine black fibres". I go through a lot of mascara, so it's always a welcome item, even a drug store brand.

Starlooks Lip Pencil in Bare (full size, $12)
I've received quite a few Starlooks products over the past year and I've always been impressed with them. I don't use lip liner though so this may end up on my swap board.

Body Drench Candy Licious Lips in Peppermint Stick (full size, $3.99)
I received a lip balm from Body Drench in a previous BB5 and I love it so this is a welcome item.

Anna Naturals Glowing Mama Walnut Face & Body Scrub (0.5oz sample, $1.37)
I love scrubs so this is a good sample for me. It smells like oranges.

HASK Argan Oil Intense Deep Conditioning Hair Treatment (60g two use pouch, $2.39)
I'm interested in trying this one. There are two uses per packet. I read some people complaining about it being a foil sample, but this is actually how they are sold - in singles or 12 packs.

My July Beauty Box 5 contained five products valued at $24.74. This is the best Beauty Box 5 I have received in MONTHS. The value is more than double what I paid and I received products I can and will actually use. I'm also happy to see four full sized products! Hopefully we see more of this from BB5 over the next few months.
