Ipsy Glam Bag Review - February 2014 - Beauty Subscription Bag

What is it? Ipsy Glam Bag
How Much? $10 per month, plus $4.95 shipping to Canada
What’s in it?  4-5 beauty products every month

This month Ipsy shipped on February 10th and arrived February 17th. The theme for February is "The Look of Love" and features a bright pink pouch with white trim. Not my favourite pouch to date but I will probably be able to find a use for it.

Ipsy doesn't include a traditional product card, since there are usually many different bag variations. To find out about your products, you log into your account online and check out your Glam Room. This was mine for February:

I peeked at my Glam Room earlier this week, so I knew which products I would be receiving. Unboxing, or unbagging in this case, was still fun because I didn't know what colours I would be getting!

First look.

Because I peeked at my Glam Room in advance, I knew I would be receiving J Cat eyelashes, but I already received J Cat eyelashes in my June 2013 bag. Ipsy advertises no duplicates so I e-mailed them immediately. An Ipsy Care agent replied within a day:
Part of the fun of ipsy is trying new products, shades, and brands! But it’s not our goal to ever send the same product from the same brand. It looks like we made a mistake this month – so sorry! I put in an order for a surprise bonus item that will make your natural lashes look great!
This is just to demonstrate - if you ever receive a duplicate item, e-mail! I've now had positive customer care experiences with Ipsy and Topbox.

Zoya Nail Polish in Dot (Full size, $9)
This is described as a "pink petal cream".

Jesse's Girl 9-Pan Eye Shadow Compact in The Eyes Have It. (Full size, $3.99)
I'm not down with these colours. Time to re-do my Ipsy Match quiz.

First Aid Beauty Deep Cleanser with Red Clay (1oz, $5.11)
F.A.B. is a new brand for ipsy. Nice to have something  new. I've used their products before and they have been hit or miss with me. A full size is 4.7oz for $24.

pop beauty Plump Pout Mini in Peony Petal (4g, $7.53)
I haven't tried this yet but the colour looks nice. Might be too pink for me though. A full size is 8.4g from $16.

J. Cat Beauty Eyelashes + Eyelash Glue in style EL15 ($3.99)
As I wrote above, these lashes are a duplicate for me. I still haven't used the last pair I received. I my entire life, I have only worn falsies twice. Once was on my 30th birthday in Las Vegas and the other was a year ago when I was maid of honour at a friend's wedding. Both times my makeup, and the lash application, was done by a professional.

My February Ipsy Glam Bag included five products, three of them full size, with an approximate retail value of $29.62. I paid $14.95 for this one ($10 plus $4.95 shipping), so it's a good value. I'm not all that excited about the products this month, mostly because the eye shadows and lashes don't appeal to me. A co-worker of mine received her very first Ipsy bag this month and she was blown away by her products (very similar to mine) and loved everything.

What did you get in your February Ipsy Glam Bag?

  1. The lip gloss sheers out quite nicely; just use the lightest hand applicating. I received the very bright fuchsia colour & thought, "No way!". But to my surprise it is reasonably wearable & a nice product. :-)

  2. I got the same as you! I actually liked the eye shadow colours but they were really cheap feeling :(

  3. Hi,

Have you done a post on which boxes are your favorite overall?

    1. I haven't, because it's such a subjective thing, and also changes from month to month, based on box content. Instead I do analysis posts to look at the objective aspects of a box/service and let the reader for their own opinion.

So far I have done analysis posts for BB5 (2 of them) and Topbox. I'm working on one for the first 4 months of my Ipsy subscription as well. If there are any services you would like to see analyzed, let me know.

You can see all the analysis posts here: http://cdnboxaddict.blogspot.ca/search/label/analysis

  4. this seems okay, but lately I'm not super sad I don't have an ipsy sub, I was able to swap for both zoya polishes which is what i really wanted anyway!
