How much? $18.99/month including shipping & taxes
What's in it? A personalized singalong book and CD for the preschooler in your life.
The Together Time Company Singalong Book Club is a new Canadian subscription service, based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Jennifer, from the Together Time Company, offered to send me a singalong book for review.

Our mission is to help parents connect with their preschooler in the precious time they have together, while giving them something to hold on to when they are apart. By sending a monthly singalong to their door, we give them a tool that connects them in a way that nurtures their little one's emotional needs and strengthens the relationship.
I don't have any children of my own, but I do have a 3 year old niece, so I accepted the review offer with her in mind.

Ipsy Glam Bag Review - February 2014 - Beauty Subscription Bag

What is it?Ipsy Glam Bag
How Much? $10 per month, plus $4.95 shipping to Canada
What’s in it?  4-5 beauty products every month
This month Ipsy shipped on February 10th and arrived February 17th. The theme for February is "The Look of Love" and features a bright pink pouch with white trim. Not my favourite pouch to date but I will probably be able to find a use for it.

Ipsy doesn't include a traditional product card, since there are usually many different bag variations. To find out about your products, you log into your account online and check out your Glam Room. This was mine for February:

I peeked at my Glam Room earlier this week, so I knew which products I would be receiving. Unboxing, or unbagging in this case, was still fun because I didn't know what colours I would be getting!

First look.
Because I peeked at my Glam Room in advance, I knew I would be receiving J Cat eyelashes, but I already received J Cat eyelashes in my June 2013 bag. Ipsy advertises no …

Beauty Box 5 Review - February 2014 - Beauty Subscription Box

This review has been updated since originally posted. I received this box free with referral credits.

What is it?Beauty Box 5
How Much? $12/month, $30/quarter, $99/year  plus $3 shipping per box
What's in it? 5 samples from your favourite beauty brands

This is the last box from my first year BB5 subscription. Actually January was my 12th box, but I was owed one box free earned prior to the referrals-for-boxes program being cancelled in June 2013.

This box shipped February 8th and arrived February 18th. February is the two year anniversary of Beauty Box 5 so I was hoping to see something special in this box. Last year we received a bonus product. Unfortunately, other than a birthday themed product card, this box was nothing to celebrate.

The product card has changed yet again. I like this one. No more random theme that doesn't tie in with the products. Just a sleek card with large product photos and detailed information. A coupon code for $10 off at was also…

Topbox Review - February 2014 - Beauty Subscription Box

What is it?Topbox
How Much? $12 per month, shipping included
What’s in it?  4 deluxe beauty samples
It's Topbox time! This month my Topbox shipped on February 14th and arrived February 17th.  I opted for a regular box.

My January box included a duplicate item from a previous month, so I was promised an extra product this month.

At first look, I was excited. So many awesome looking products! I could tell right away the value this month was going to be huge.

This FULL SIZE Deborah Lippman nail lacquer is my replacement product. Last month I received a set of Belvada tweezers, which was a dupe to a set I received in August. Topbox is usually great about not including duplicates so when I e-mailed about the duplicate, they offered to send an extra product in my February box. I had no idea it would be something like this! The colour is "Since I Fell For You" and it's a gorgeous shimmering red. The retail value is $20 (CDN), although you can find it for less all over the…

Julep Maven Review - February 2014 - Beauty Subscription Box + PROMO CODE

This post contains affiliate links.

What is it? Julep Maven How Much? $19.99 per month, shipping included What’s in it? At least $40 worth of products chosen depending on your style profile, or upgrade your box for an additional fee and get the entire collection.
I was so busy this last week focusing on the anniversary of my subscription with Beauty Box 5, I completely forgot that it's also the year anniversary of my subscription to Julep. Julep was my second ever beauty box subscription and I stuck with it for an entire year. I only skipped one box in 2013 (August), but I really appreciated the option was there to skip whenever I wanted and however many times I wanted.

I recently learned from my new favourite beauty review blog (Brightest Bulb in the Box), that Julep has changed the rules regarding skipping. Robyn explains it with much more detail, but the gist of it is, you can only skip once every six months. Apparently this change only applies to those who subscribed AFTER Decem…

Beauty Box 5 - Year in Review

What's in it? 5 samples from your favourite beauty brands
Beauty Box 5 was my first ever beauty box subscription. It's been quite a fun year since I signed up for my first box in January 2013. I've received over 100 parcels, reviewed dozens of subscriptions services, tried oodles of new products, and written 1000's of words on this blog all about the experience.
With my first year subscription coming to a close, it's a good time to do a year in review post to analyze the Beauty Box 5 subscription service. I last wrote an analysis post about BB5 when I was four months in to the service, but never found an opportunity to write a follow-up post. You can see my first BB5 analysis here.
