Tea Sparrow Review - December 2013 - Canadian Tea Subscription Box + PROMO CODE

What is it? Tea Sparrow
How Much? $20 per month, shipping included
What’s in it? 4 premium loose leaf teas to make 35-40 cups of tea.

After reviewing November's Tea Sparrow box, I enjoyed it so much, I signed up for a monthly subscription.

Every month, Tea Sparrow sends you 4 carefully selected teas from around the world. The Tea Box averages 3-4 ounces of loose leaf tea and yields 35-40 cups of tea per month. Each box includes a mix of both herbal and caffeinated blends. All the teas are free of artificial ingredients and sourced from tea blenders around the world. As the teas are loose leaf, a tea infuser or strainer is required.Tea Sparrow does not provide one or sell them.

I signed up for Tea Sparrow on December 17th, the day they started shipping the December boxes. I thought I missed the December cut off so I was pleasantly surprised when a December box arrived in my mail box! The December promos promised a bonus pouch of tea, along with tea cocktail recipes!

Along with the usual Tea Sparrow Tea Tips card, the box also included a recipe for a Candy Cane Martini (using chilled peppermint tea), and a cross promotion with Snackbox (Use promo code TEASPARROW to get $15 off your first Snackbox).

First look - 5 teas this month!

Cherry Rose Green Tea
Japanese sencha blended with rose petals and cherries – all the flavor and aroma of a spring orchard.
This is the only one of the bunch I have yet to try. I have a Kyoto Cherry Rose tea in my pantry, which is very similar.

Santa's Secret
Cinnamon sweet, Christmas citrus spice. No wonder Santa keeps this one a secret. The Perfect stocking stuffer!
This one is an herbal tea with apples, cinnamon, and hibiscus. It was nice, but a bit mellow for my tastes.

Nut Crush Rooibos
This tea is deliciously divine. The green rooibos, fruit pieces and hazelnut crunch make this the perfect seasonal blend. With a dash of milk you have warm apple pie à la mode in a cup.
The hazelnut flavour in this one was delicious. I plan to try it iced as well.

Snowflake
A great blend of black tea with almond gives this tea a Marzipan flavour.
This black tea blend has a lovely nutty flavour that is both delicious and comforting.

Peppermint Tea
The perfect peppermint tea.
I drink peppermint tea quite a bit because it's good for digestion, among other things. This one was fresh and lively.

This Special Edition December Tea Box from Tea Sparrow contains 5 packets of holiday inspired teas. I really enjoyed sampling each tea. It's a whole process, from prep, to brewing, to sipping. Each day I get to sit, relax and savour the flavours. As I said in my November post, it's hard to put a monetary value on this subscription box. Tea Sparrow is more about the experience than the value, and so far I have enjoyed my tea discovery experiences quite a bit.

Tea Sparrow has provided a promo link for you to get 60% off your first month's box when you sign up for a month-to-month recurring subscription.Go to http://www.teasparrow.com/promo/ and enter "teas" in the password box, then click subscribe. 1. This subscription sounds amazing! The first package you got from them sounded wonderful too!

I am not often inclined to get any subscriptions for myself but this is kind of calling to me. I love tea so much! I think I'll go make a cup right now and peruse their website a bit. Thanks for the review.

  2. This subscription is really calling to me, especially for $8 for the first box. But I have a strict budget right now, and I did get a David's Tea collection for Christmas. I guess I will enjoy vicariously through you for now.
